depot
depot
Hi, i could not found a building like a depot. The boxes are to small and not really useful as an storagedepot.

By the way: the game is great!

Re: depot
I think there is a warehouse mod: viewtopic.php?f=93&t=17295&hilit=warehouse#p114633
Maybe this is what you were looking for.

Re: depot
Tanks for quick reply and the hint with the mod. I think a depot is essential for the game. I wonder, why it is not in the Basegame.

Re: depot
There was an old discussion I remember about what would be a "High-bay warehouse" in English or a "Hochregallager" in German: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15197
Re: depot
Thank you for the link - a dept like this is essential for production, i think. I the game i miss it very often. Perhaps it is possible to take an train-waggon for this?
Re: depot
I don't quite understand waht you want to do with the train wagon.
Do you want a larger train wagon as a moving storage depot or something stationary having the size of a train wagon?

Re: depot
It is indeed a known trick to place a train wagon on a tiny piece of railway to act as a big chest. It feels a bit hacky imo, but it works.fffranz wrote:Thank you for the link - a dept like this is essential for production, i think. I the game i miss it very often. Re: depot
Chests can store a lot depending on how you set them up.fffranz wrote:Hi, i could not found a building like a depot. The boxes are to small and not really useful as an storagedepot.

For example:
120,000 iron ore stored in 50 chests
Re: depot
Thanks, nice idea. But when store different thinks - it will be complicated ...
By the way, a box has only for sides to be load or unload + 4 more with long arm. But e depot with 4 x 4 will have more possibilities - especially if used with intelligent robotic arms.

Re: depot
I definitely agree with you.
A depot or warehouse would be great.
Chest storage works in the meantime. But you'll need to separate the items first. Numerous chests with fast inserters on a fast or express belt make up for only using 1 inserter to add and 1 inserter to remove.
That picture is one of my small storage areas. My largest storage area has over 600 chests and stores almost 1.5 million coal

Re: depot
There are currently three different containers that can store stuff for you:
Chests (of various ilk): 1x1 : 4 max in/out points (x2 if using long inserters)
Car: 2x2, mobile: 8 max in/out points (x2 if using long inserters)
Train Car: 2x6, mobile on tracks: 12 {maybe 16} in/out points, (x2 if using long inserters)
There is no requirement to use the mobile storage in a way that moves, so these can be used as (fairly expensive) stationary warehouse options if desired.
