What is cement and how is it made?

I don't really care for the vanilla concrete recipe in game requiring stone bricks and iron ore. The few mods posted do help some (i.e. Sane Conrete at least has the rebar). I found this article on the web and thought it might be a good read for you sadistic bastaids who like to balance the game with your awesome mods. Maybe someone will give us a new twist to make concrete in the future. I haven't played any of the big overhaul mods yet so it might be in there already.

Factorio got the recipe mostly right, considering the result is not reinforced concrete but concrete paver.
Iron oxide is a potential additive to cement for sintering.
Rebar frames are usually not used when producing concrete paver.
