I just feel the creepers have been reduced to annoying mosquitoes who swarms around you harmlessly. Instead of just throwing in numbers as a means to make things more difficult I think it would be better with other kinds. Aside from variety always being appreciated having 5 creepers and a warrior creeper instead of 25 normal creepers is more computer resource friendly. If you want to make things even more interesting focus on giving them interesting traits and abilities instead of giving them straight up powerups.
Would also make some high priority targets that you must make sure are dealt with.

this will change in 0.7, creepers have 3 different tiers, their attack is based mainly on pollution, and they attack in bigger groups.

This is part of the changelog concerning creepers.
- The creeper was replaced by new enemies (big, medium and big biter).
- Enemy turrets were replaced by small, medium and big shooting worms.
- New enemy behaviour, enemies attack in bigger, organised, groups, they wonder around the base.
- Enemies call for help when attacked.
- Enemies can create new bases.
- Pollution system introduced, natives don't like the pollution.
