Biter expansion too aggressive

Post by myridium »

I don't know is this is a new thing or always been part of the game, but I'm finding biter expansion very aggressive. It is so aggressive that big worms can spawn just out of range of a wall of laser turrets, then take down those turrets.

This wasn't such a problem before Space Age because you could research artillery and keep the biter bases from spawning too closely. However, since Space Age, artillery is much more difficult to research and now I have big worms spawning and taking down my turret walls while I'm on another planet and there's really nothing I can do about it. No amount of defences can prevent it. The behemoth worms which eventually spawn will be even worse! If the player doesn't have artillery tech by then, then they're in a real pickle.

I think this is an unintended problem caused by the shifting of artillery down the tech tree in Space Age. Please consider increasing the minimum allowable distance between a 'military object' and the location of a newly spawned biter base.

[Koub] Moving this to Balancing. Might consider moving this to Gameplay Help if the discussion points towards a "you missed something" ... thing.

I have one case of a behemoth worm spawning too close of my turret in my 160 hours of game so far (yes I still didn't set up artillery on nauvis  ) that is less than what I used to have in 1.1. But overall I agree, this was a problem and still is a problem however that a small problem in my eye, it's a bit annoying but that all.

Welp, I had a big worm spawn and take down a wall when I was on another planet. Some time later, biters had set up all their old bases within large walled-off portion of the map. This really ought to be fixed/rebalanced.

You can remote drive a tank (and you can equip it with a roboport), so you should be able to handle such threats and rebuild walls remotley even long befor spidertrons.
