Make Nuclear Fuel Rods Harder :D !...

Post by PanTobi »

I really love Nuclear Power!...
Example from other Game, Anno 2070 i'm producing almost more Uranium than Fish :D
I wanted Uranium to be Top 1 Product on the World in Anno 2070 :/... but too many players...

Anywaa...
I rly love making and using Nuclear Power in Factorio
Before Nuclear Reactors my fav. was Oil ^_^

But Nuclear compare to Oil... making Nuclear Reactor is TOO EASY...
Just look at this:
Image
One Assembling Machine handling 3.0 GW ( and able to support way more )

Producing Nuclear Fuel Rods is TOO EASY
just some Iron and Uranium... thats all... You can Handfeed your Nuclear Reactor and You have to do that only once / day ( real time time )
and it will work fine for hours =_=...

So here is my suggestion for Harder Nuclear Rods Production:
- 2 Uranium-235
- 30 Uranum-238
- 10 Steel
- 7 Iron sticks
- 12 Plastic
For 10 Nuclear Fuel Rods

Price is pretty huge but one Fuel Rod is... i don't remember but i was testing it... i think its 1 Rod = 15 Minutes Heating
15 Minutes of infinite Energy for only some Uranium and Iron ? :o...

Yes... Uranium is pretty infinite Energy Source...

I agree that nuclear fuel rods are too easy, but honestly I don't think your recipe is that much more expensive, those materials are already pretty available at that point in the game, and you never need that many rods.
Also may I request that the recipe continues to use only 1 U-235, as when you first get nuclear power, you have to wait ages to get any, so having the recipe give half as many rods is fine.

So is solar, I don't think anyone is complaining.

Much like IRL, the cost of Nuclear energy in factorio isn't the fuel cell, it is the technology, the centrifuge the reactor, and the overall complexity of the build. And much like IRL the cost of Nuclear is very high at first, but assymptotically very low (IRL lower than anything else, in Factorio, the setup cost is only on par with boilers IIRC).

The 3 methods of energy production are very distinct and I think it's a good thing gameplay wise. If Nuclear reactors were mere glorified boilers, I would never use them, I'd stick to boilers.

Now the whole Nuclear processing, despite being harder than other energy source, is probably very easy for what it gives, and Kovarex enrichement is arguably outright cheaty. But I think it's good for the accessibility of the game, and there are excellent mods which make nuclear processing more complexe (and not necessarilly less resource efficinent)

Solar produce 60 kw and thats low AF...
Heat Engine produce 5.82 MW ( around 90 Solars )
Reactor produce 40 MW ( without Bonus ) ( thats around 400/500 Solars )
2x2 Reactors thats 480 MW ( around 5000 solars )

You need only 1 Ele. furnance 1 Iron Drill and some Uranium to maintain all reactors...

This little Small setup produce 6 GW+ ( around 6.1 GW )

Here im planning to build around 40 maybe 50 GW...
im not sure yet because i need to calculate how many engines i can connect to that lake

I rly don't understand ppl who use Solars as main Source of energy :x...
Soalrs were good but before Nuclear was added to game...

Solars are just waste of time and waste of energy and resources
So they are pretty fine xDDD

They produce pretty nothing :D
And tbh... u are wrong :x... Solars are not infinite Energy Source !...

Solars are efficient for 10 max 15 years, I'm 100% sure that Factorio include that as feature xDD
so after 10 years of playing all ur solars gonna be useless :x... #lol...

When building really large bases, solar rules over nuclear when it comes to game performance (UPS = updates per second). With nuclear, the game needs to calculate all the movements of the steam and water in pumps/pipes/heat exchangers/etc, and the heat in the heat pipes, whereas a solar field is considered a single entity in the game and significantly reduces the calculations required. Someone wiser than I might be able to quantify the difference.

Also, for some players, solar is more convenient - no need to deal with sourcing sufficient water or dealing with uranium at all. Just plonk, plonk, plonk solar blueprints and let the robots deal with it.
