[0.11.15] [kovarex] Crashing associated with power grids

Been playing with various Mods, and this error has been hampering my progress. I can get about an hour into the game when the following error pops up. Shortly after (maybe 20-30min) the game will CTD. The game absolutely will not let me do a manual save at this point. I am going to try to play a bit longer to see if it crashes, if it does I will upload the log. Until then here's the error and save file.

Well it didn't take long, not five minutes later the game crashed. It happened right as I was placing a power pole, or very shortly after. Here's the log:

I think I finally figured out the cause of the crash, or at least, I can reproduce it now. The game crashes whenever I link up two separate power grids. Here's a screenshot when the game crashed, you can see that I was placing the power pole in between two separate grids.I imagine the log is similar to the previous one, but I'll post it again.

I managed to manual save it just before the crash, and can reliably reproduce the crash now. Furthermore, I believe I've figured out the exact culprit that is causing the issue. The crash happens when connecting two power grids together. When I was trying to diagnose if this was a mod issue or not, I realized that on a new game I could not get the game to crash after connecting two power grids, with and without mods. So I went back to the original save and realized that my main power grid had only three things drawing power, inserters, labs, and mining drills. The drills being the only thing different from my test map that wouldn't crash, I removed them and then connected the two grids. No crash. Put them back and connected the grids: Crash. So it must be the mining drills. These are mk1 mining drills or something (I'm new to factorio modding entirely) so I'll try to get this to the dytech dev as well, but if anyone could help solve the issue I would greatly appreciate. If anyone wants to try to reproduce this I'm going to upload the save file. Just link the lone Lab to everything else and the game will crash; remove the drills before-hand and it won't.

There was a bug in some of the later 0.11 versions, that caused duplication of entities and corruption of the electric network when saving game while holding electric pole.

The save seems like it is caused by this case. Was the save played during the earlier 0.11 versions? Can you reproduce the problem when you start the game in 0.11.16?

Ok, so I found out, that the save was created in 0.11.16, so some kind of error is still there.

Could you give me the package of the mods you use? (I guess that it is not reproducible without them).

Apparently if chrome doesn't finish uploading a file in 30sec, it just kills the transfer. This is becoming increasingly frustrating.

Along with these mods I used Main-DyTech-Machine-1.0.1.zip, but it just wouldn't upload because chrome is being shitty.

My map has 2 areas with large power grids including the infamous MK1 electric drills (wich is just a renaming by dytech of the stock electric drill, so mods may not be in cause). The 2 areas are linked by a small power pole line. When setting the powerline up, i did not crashed.

At some point, i had the bug start appearing on autosaves, but manual saving worked fine, so i assumed it was some issue with a mod that would be fixed "soon". I had been messing with power lines around drills a lot at that time, and i can't remember if i connected separate networks at some point, nor when the bug started appearing relative to said messing around.

The map saved manually fine however, until i started messing with the line between the grids. i upgraded part of it to large power poles. without crashing, as i placed the large line before removing the small one. I managed to save there.

Stuff started going wrong from this point. I wanted to move a large pole from an old temporary line. The pole is part of the line between the 2 grids, but on a side, linked to a pole toward one grid and one to the other. These two poles are not linked together, but close enough to link. Removing the side pole, would normally cause the two other to link together automaticaly, but i crashed.

i then read this thread while looking for a fix. I came back to it, placing a couple of medium poles inbetween the two unconnected poles, to get them connected so i can remove the large pole safely. Removing it does not crash the game immediately, and the two large poles connect, allowing me to remove the medium poles, but prevents me from saving the game from this point.

A just removing the large pole crashes immediately, it means that while diegokilla says it is connecting 2 grids together wich crashes, unconnecting them crashes too.

Also, reloading the save done before messing with the line works, but the bug prevents saving from this point, even if powerlines aren't touched.

Anyway i can't play on this map until it's fixed. I'll post it if you're interested.

Edit : Forgot to mention it, the map has been played entierely in factorio 0.11.16
i've seen the bug only since updating the modpack to 2-2-0, but i can't tell if it is related.

Edit2: I've autosaves from before the mess, i'll mess with those to see if stuff happens.

Edit3: On a working autosave, disconnecting the main grid and a drilling area grid (a bunch of the incriminated Mk1 drills and some power poles) and connecting it all together does not crashes. I can also still save. However, the link between the2 main grids will still crash the game.

Edit4: disconnecting a small area with chemical factories and assmblers (and inserters) crashed. i'm starting to think the drills may not be an issue, but the amount of different power using machines may have an impact.

Edit5: Putting down a single chemical factory (the first power consuming thing i could put my hands on) away from evrything, then placing a pole right next to it to connect it to trhe grid crashes.

Edit6: Placing the pole first, then the chemical thing crashes too on the placement of the factory.

Edit7: If i don't do anything, autosaves still work if i load an autosave from before the mess. Attempting to load the main save then resulted in a crash. On the main save (after reloading the game for the 15276483th time), the autosaves do not work.

Also, forgot to mention it, quitting without saving from the main save crashes.

Ok, this is related of combination of moweather and a Factorio bug. It is fixed for 0.11.17
