[0.11.15] [kovarex] Fullscreen isn't taking the whole screen

[Unidding]

When i start the game it only appears in the taskbar, if i mouse over it i can see the game loading fine. if i select it and press windowskey+up the game appaers on my screen.

if I then try to select fullscreen in options if crashes with "Unexpected error occurred"

I did, I tried disabling it, and i can now enable full screen without it crashing. but the window is not filling out the screen (see attached screenshot). it looks like it is trying to fill out my second monitor which is 1680x1050.

Just a guess, but can you try to change the default monitor in the graphics settings?

The crashing related to the bitmap caching is solved for 0.11.16 btw, but you shouldn't use the caching once you have enough of video memory, we changed to option name to make it less misleading.

I tried changing the default screen in options, i have 2 options "screen 1" and "screen 2" and it makes no difference which one is selected. when I opened options the first time neither screen was selected, I looked in the config file and preferred-screen-index was set to 255.

but does factorio detect windows 8.1 properly to show it in the log files? might be usefull
your printscreen, suggest your on windows 8.1 (your log say diffrent)


because next option only applies to windows 8.1

right click your factorio sortcut go to properties, and change next option
do you have this opions, yes? disable it

looked at my own log file.It says windows 8. But i have windows 8.1

Hi I just tried with the "Disable display scaling on high DPI" settings turned on, and it had no effect. It still behaves the same.

If i try to start the game with fullscreen turned on, a tab called Allegro appears in the task bar and flickers on and off while the left border of my screen flickers for a few seconds like it's trying to open the window again and again, but then it crashes with"Error failed to create display!". this is with bitmap chaching turned off and "Disable display scaling on high DPI" turned on aswell.

Edit:yes it's windows 8,1.

I had a similar problem, turns out in the config.ini there were two entries for 'preferred-screen-index' which were set to different values. Once I changed them to be the same value everything was okay.
