[15.2] Linux Update failed status 500

I just downloaded 0.15.2 x64 Linux and logged in with my username and password and I get this popup:

Update failed

Download failed (status 500; Connection to the authorization server failed.)

The log message is:

Info Updater.cpp:743: Downloading https://updater.factorio.com/get-available-versions?username=mward&token=<private>&apiVersion=2

I am also now getting this error with 0.14.22

I can access https://updater.factorio.com/get-available-versions? via a web browser.

If I delete player-data.json and try to login with an invalid password, I get "Invalid username or password": which suggest that connection to the authorization server is working for password validation at least.
