We managed to crash a mp server putzing about.
Not positive what part of this caused the crash, so I'll just describe the whole series of events...
Was a headless server that had been up for a while with minimal activity.
I created a surface called "tardis-space" with default configs but sized 32 by 32.
Me and the other player on teleported there.
I replaced all the tiles with concrete, building a table in loops and calling set_tiles once.
I looped over and destroyed all entities, including, accidentally, ourselves, from the entire 32x32 area.
I created two new characters, and we bound to them.
I changed my force to "player" (the new characters were originally, for some reason, enemy, at least mine was)
We .insert'ed ourselves guns and ammo.
The other player shot me.
When I died, all clients crashed, including, apparently, the headless server.
