[1.1.0] Update check error: "https" not supported or disabled in libcurl

Post by ezekiel »

After successfully downloading the 1.1 update (in-game, using the updater) I received the following error in Factorio on subsequent launches. This happens every time.
Checking for updates failed: Download failed (Protocol "https" not supported or disabled in libcurl)
Image

I am gathering the log files now and will revise this post.

Log file:

Same happens with a new standalone install:

I can reproduce. macOS 10.15.7, Intel, both Steam and Standalone versions, Factorio 1.1.0.

A quick search shows this for me: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/349 ... n-mac-os-x

What I don't know is; do we not ship CURL statically linked in the mac build?
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

And to add to this: presumably the same missing https support is causing the in-game mod browser to fail to download the mod list from the mod servers.

Reverting back to Steam's Factorio 1.0 fixes the issue. Also might be related is a Factorio 1.1.0 issue with 520 error on Browse public games.

I'm also experiencing this. For reference, it looks like curl is statically linked:

Also happens when you try to login to factorio from within the game - says it can't reach the auth server - maybe a direct cause for some of the other failed requests?

MacOS 10.15.7, Steam version.

Without any adjustments, curl can access https pages from the terminal, with or without the --http2 parameter.

Thanks for the report.
It is fixed for 1.1.1, but unfortunatelly, you'll have to redownload the game (if you don't use Steam version), as 1.1.0 is not able to download updates. We are sorry about that.

About when will the download 1.1.1 be available?

Glad to see that the issue is fixed in 1.1.1! My friend has been trying to join my game from a MacOS (10.15.7) and its been giving the ""https" not supported or disabled in libcurl" error. Any indication as to when the 1.1.1 version is available?

Edit: I see the update has now been released, devs, you guys are the best!

I guess this will be the second time I download Factorio this week: first to fix my 1.1 and make it playable, now to download 1.1.1
