Startup time - Data Cache

Sounds awesome, would love to see a speedup in modded games. With the wrong settings in:
https://mods.factorio.com/mod/WideChests
eg 255 wide by 255 high chests allowed

the game startup time can be as long as 20-30 minutes. Not seconds, that's not a typo, minutes.

September next year? Madness. Stick a '1.0' label on it, and ship it, it's beautiful right now, as it is. I'd rather be buying the first expansion DLC in September next year than watch you wonderful people gild the lily ad infinitum!
Second this!
Third this!

Re: Friday Facts #314 - 0.17 stable

Getting first mount at level 40 for 100 gold? You have to walk a lot before you get it and it might feel annoying at times. But when you actually get it, it means A LOT. Similar as how it is a game-changer to get construction robots/logistic robots/power armor. Getting there isn't easy, and there a...

Re: Friday Facts #309 - Controversial opinions

It's our job as developers to incentivise the player to play the game properly. If importing blueprints is obviously so bad, why are we providing this tool as a vanilla tool? Not only that but we also place it in the "tools" section, as a shortcut in the main screen, as if you are expecte...

Re: [1.10.15] Crash MP when setting -24K demand, Bob's Angel's and Tracker

Not my server. How can I tell which mod crashes for sure or access the log files?

I made 10 attempts on my local machine to repro the problem to get the log files but it doesn't repro for me.

[1.10.15] Crash MP when setting -24K demand, Bob's Angel's and Tracker

I read: How to report a bug or request assistance - READ BEFORE POSTING "Report the bug as new topic into the Bug reports board. Watch out for other announcement posts like this." I was unable to find the Bugs report board so am posting here. -----------------------------------------------...

38 pages of comments! Why not throw my opinion into the ring? I thought the oil jump was exactly that - a jump. The oil changes, while maybe imperfect (seemed fine to me) are definitely a big move in the right direction. When I read the FFF I was just nodding along, sounds good, yes, yep, ok... it w...

Re: Friday Facts #306 - Experimental Demo

Tutorial : New changes are welcome, I liked the old one but it gave the new player the wrong impression about the combat balance. I watched a friend, new player, go through the tutorial and then start a freeplay game. He went through EVERY option and nerfed the biters as much as possible. It was to...

Is it possible to get the helicopter to match the player color scheme like vanilla vehicles? That way I could tell which was my heli after I parked it.

Re: Version 0.17.43

Convinced my friend to buy Factorio and then watched him play the campaign. It all went fairly smoothly until he decided to move on and start a freeplay game. Apparently the extreme aggression of the biters in the campaign had left a deep impression because he went through the menus and tried to set...

Nerd³ is the reason I bought Factorio.

Linus Tech Tips probably has better reach but they don't appear to review games, you might be able to get organic placement like showing Factorio as an example game in a segment about Linux gaming.

We also included a result from one high-performance GPU (GeForce GTX 980 4GB), but this was ran in 4K resolution (3840x2160) as opposed to FullHD. This is particularly relevant to me as a 980 GTX (non-Ti) on 4K is exactly what I run. Good benchmark choice. Glad to see high res will still be viable ...

Re: Friday Facts #279 - Train GUI & Modern Spitter

I have to agree with everyone above being confused by the logic parsing. I think I (and lots of other people) would love a system where stations know what they have and what they need, and you can dispatch trains accordingly But for me the current system is, as the meme goes, literally unplayable. ...
