Re: Version 0.11.12

I had the same problem with Win7 SP1 not installing ... After a bit of googling I found the "System Update Readiness Tool for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB947821)" You find it directly at the microsoft download center. After this tool installs (it's 500mb+) it should allow all other...

Re: OCD Storage

Well, if you build enough empty storage chests (like, 20 for starters, more if you put more stuff into the network), the bots will put one kind of item only into every chest. You could sort them manually after, if you wish to do so. And if you like to prepare more chests for a high volume item like ...

Re: Version 0.11.12

are you guys serious? sp1 for win7 was released in 2010. there is no excuse for beeing on the internet and not patching your OS, let alone install the available service packs. SP1 isn't updating for a while now on my system, although I got all security updates and stuff that were included through t...

Re: Version 0.11.12

What's with the "factorio won't run without win7's service pack 1"? its a good question, and I'd like to know the answer to it too, because my windows 7 laptop won't upgrade to SP1, I've tried, it just fails. I got the same problem with my desktop PC. I am trying since yesterday to get SP...

Re: Newbie Tips?

Also avoid the campaign for now. This game works sort of backwards in that its easier to play custom games and get a feel for how things work than it is to do the campaign. The early levels are ok, but once you're a few in you start getting put into the middle of half build/destroyed bases and tryi...

Re: Why does the Windows version multitask so badly?

I am playing Factorio since May last year now, and I never had ANY problems with ALT-tabbing. I played in maximized windowed mode, mostly, and I am tabbing a lot. Can't say what's the problem with your system though :/

Very very far from that :)
That, good Sir, are some fabulous news :) Happy New Year to you, and may 2015 be a great year for Factorio and the restless geniuses behind it

Re: [0.11.6] Performance problems

Hi, First i tried cyanit's save and played for a while in 60/60 FPS/UPS and thought the problem was only old hardware. My hardware is certainly not state of the art but I thought it was enough for Factorio(I even bought a new graphics card just to be able to play Factorio @ 60 FPS) Then I just trie...

Re: Friday Facts #67 - Happy new year

I inspected the savegame just to find out, it is one of the biggest factories I have seen I have to say, I'm a bit proud right now :P Although I've never seen one of those 200h monstrosities some veterans are building for months now... If someone is curious: The save mentioned by kovarex is a 70h f...

Re: Force-place Incomplete Blueprints

No, it should not be standard behavior. Blueprints can get very huge, and not placing a special building could destroy the whole setup without the player realizing it - the small red marked building is pretty small, easily to be overlooked. Pressing a special key should not be very problematic and ...

Re: So much wood...

Agree. Would like to see more uses. After I realized can use construction drones to keep the wood (instead of introducing them to my grenades), using for more things would be nice. ((as would being able to replant)) Maybe take a look at the treefarm mod :) It adds a nicely balanced wood branch to y...

Re: [0.11.6] Performance problems

That is impressive! I really like the terrain with all the lakes. But I have to admit I didn't look around too much - it's a bit frustrating when getting only 10 fps :) Now add 200ms ping, and imagine building anything like that :P When the performance tweaks are in, we'll continue and see how far ...

Re: [0.11.6] Performance problems

Thanks a lot for taking a look :) We plan to show off the factory at some point anyway, but we're far from done yet. I'm glad the savegame helped with those optimisations you were talking about :) I knew that the simulation has to slow down at some point, especially with an old rig like mine. But it...

Sure thing, here you go: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1132141/BoemmAlexRSO2.39.zip Many moving parts, complex train system which might be part of the performance problem. My friend told me that he has 60 fps when running it single-player on his high-end mac (so, my hardware has some part in i...

Re: [0.11.6] Performance problems

We got a pretty big factory so far, and my fps dropped to around 6.5, which isn't much fun if you also have to handle 200ms ping (my mate lives on the other side of the planet right now). Now, i was pretty sure that RAM was my problem as I only got 4gb, and they were nearly completely used while fac...

0.12 New Circuit stuff (from the FF)

From the new Friday Facts : He visited us month ago for a week, and the circuit network extension was his test task. He made a prototype of light-based progress bar indicator of the amount of items in the chest. In that moment, my head exploded from the possibilities it can bring. This will enhance ...

Re: Better train logic (smarter alternative route finding)

For me, it seems like the most reasonable solution for our initial problem would be that trains won't reroute simply to be at the exact same spot in the end. I think it would be a lot more difficult to implement that than it sounds, but I think it should be like this in the long run anyway. Oh, and ...
