Re: [Not a Bug] Furnance off grid.

I love being able to walk between furnaces, it's a necessity. Without that I'd be in conveyor belt hell. Maybe the size of furnaces should be changed to 1x1 so it matches up to the grid. Maybe they could simply render some sort of a stone slab under them to mark the actual footprint. 1x1 would also...

Re: [Win] Demo player 2.8 Run Failure

That message popped up on me on linux.
But that was caused by misconfigured pulseaudio in a way that prevented it from starting.

If anything, the message should be fixed to read "Failed to initialize audio output"

Re: [mac] changing the name of "factorio.app"

Maybe that could be resolved with a symlink (if the installer is allowed to create it)

At least that approach works fine for me on linux (/usr/share/factorio is actually a symlink to ~/factorio and that is symlink to ~/factorio-<[AD]>-<version>)

Re: [Linux] Shutdown takes 18s

UPDATE:
If I disable DRI access, the shutdown is almost instant.
I guess it's an libgl-v.s.-i915 problem

Game loading is slower, but does not stall in the middle (thus overall faster)

Gameplay framerate is greatly impaired by software rendering (~5 FPS) of course.

[Resolved 0.2.9] Home/End doesn't work in text fields.

I am quite used to seeking in text fields using keys Home and End.
This behaviour seems to be a cross-platform standard.

It would be nice if I could use them for editing the savename.
Mostly because my naming tactic is like this: choose an existing save, hit End, hold Backspace, enter new suffix.

[Done] Save/Load dialog sorting?

The save/load dialog lists don't appear to be sorted in any way.
Two orders would be useful - by creation time and by name

Re: [Not a Bug] Furnance off grid.

That would prevent the player from going between the furnaces.
It's really nice and useful to be able to go though my furnace line.

[Resolved 0.2.9] Character 0 can't be part of the file name.

Given that saves cannot be sorted per world, naming them 001,002,003,etc. makes a lot of sense.
But the game says that zeros aren't allowed.

Re: [Linux] Shutdown takes 18s

Out of curiosity I looked at it's strace.
The entire delay is caused by one ioctl on the FD 6 (/dev/dri/card0)

Fun part:
The first argument of the ioctl matches the first argument of the last ioctl before the crash/stall on startup.
But that ioctl actually returns and the stall occurs after that.

Re: [Crash] [Linux] Alpha 0.2.7/8 dies with SIGBUS, demos wo

I ran a strace anyway.
FD 6 is indeed /dev/dri/card0

The fun part: There is a long stall (over 10s, didn't measure it) at the very same spot as where the crash used to be.

Re: [Crash] [Linux] Alpha 0.2.7/8 dies with SIGBUS, demos wo

I sometimes run out of real RAM, but I always have 3GB of free swap space around. I am not sure how high is the SHM limit set, but that limit is fixed and doesn't allow overcommitment AFAIK. I don't have the full strace around. I will look it up if it happens again. I am pretty sure that I tried the...

[Linux][i915] Shutdown takes 18s

Minor thing - game shutdown takes too long (~18s).
That's it.
Is it normal, or me-specific?

Re: [Bug] [Alpha 0.2.8] Electric Poles not connecting [Visua

My pole connections sometimes flicker before they are placed.
If they flickered, they (usually at least) won't visually connect.
I haven't tried actual connection.

[Crash] [Linux] Alpha 0.2.7/8 dies with SIGBUS, demos work

Hello. Here goes a story about a *buntu Quantal crash. I got 0.2.7/8 Alphas and Demos. Alphas crashed with SIGBUS after 14th square of the splashscreen turned on. I got a strace from the crash. Demos worked just fine, so I played and finished the 0.2.8 demo. Then I decided to produce a stack trace w...
