Re: Friday Facts #276 - Belt item spacing & Script rendering

Express belt being faster (4x yellow belt) becomes visually too fast. We have already tried to do that earlier.

As the smelting recipe change, I am proposing the following:
- Iron plate, copper plate, stone brick: 3.2
- Steel: 16
I can't tell if you're joking or not :D
You mean the 3.2*5 = 16? Currently it's 3.5*5 = 17.5 (steel takes 5 iron plates)

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

I just also see a large group of people who like the change (of specifically rails), alongside of reason. I still do not see a better alternative than rails. Concrete not really an useful thing at the moment. Should that change? I'm not sure. Does it need to change AND change the science pack? No, ...

Re: Friday Facts #276 - Belt item spacing & Script rendering

As the smelting recipe change, I am proposing the following: - Iron plate, copper plate, stone brick: 3.2 - Steel: 16 That would mean exactly 48 stone furnaces per yellow belt, which is the number that people already build, but some of the last ones flicker with inactivity in 0.16, now all of them w...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

Side note:

There is of course also the new belt spacing mentioned in the latest FFF that I was counting with, that allows even more rails to be supplied to the production pack. :) Just in case you still worry about your throughput, worry a bit less.

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

While I don't condone the tone of the post quoted below, I have to agree with the message itself. I actually think it is a rather important point. So what I've gotten from the thread at this point is that the reason rails are in the production pack is because: 1)You decided science would pull doubl...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

... The biggest problem other than the theme problem (I'm pretty sure new players are going to see this and just go "What the hell is this?" like I did; it's immersion breaking), is the fact that so many rails are needed that there is no way to share it with a mall, even for new players w...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

... A lot of the complaints I see about the amount of rails is generally about: -A: I don't like to belt this much. ... -reA: As said many times earlier, belts are completely fine enough so it's entirely viable to do that, in fact a single yellow belt can get you very far, and doubling it is very e...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

My play style definitely doesn't include this, nor does that of most of the people I've watched. When I build my first refinery, I am hand crafting all the pipes, and just working on something else while that process finishes. And that's fine, the science recipes aren't forcing you to change your b...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

... So if I want to have 100 packs per second, I will need 75 or so yellow belt, or 25 blue belt feeding this complex... and that production rate is not even close to some of the hard-core fans' ambition level. I am pretty sure you see the outrageous nature of a belt-based approach this rec...

Adding the equipment grid to tank would be a lot of fun yeah.

Re: Did no one else notice massive nerf of tank in 0.17?

The tank is just a vehicle, and the MG is just one of its weapons, but not the only one. I understand it is most convenient to just drop piercing rounds in the tank and ignore the other options because shells require extra automation of explosives, flamethrower on the tank is quite weak and require...

Re: Did no one else notice massive nerf of tank in 0.17?

It’s not that massive. Piercing rounds with decent upgrades still shred through things, it’s just less ridiculous. The tank is just a vehicle, and the MG is just one of its weapons, but not the only one. I understand it is most convenient to just drop piercing rounds in the tank and ignore the other...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

The theme or pattern with the science packs is to put in ingredients appropriate to the domain of research in order to pretend that your science labs are doing something like engineering developments of tech with the odd bit of pure discovery on the side. Labs develop process for steel production t...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

I've read all the arguments and I still don't see why rails are such a bad choice for science packs, assuming that science packs made of semirandom stuff from the game is a good choice. Oh fine, since you asked so nicely. Some of the arguments are about the type of puzzle that rails present. It doe...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

... I too am skeptical of the 30 items required for the Production Science Pack. I always felt that 30 was too much. Maybe 15 or so would be better. I don't mind the rails. I'm perfectly fine with rails; I always automate them early anyway as soon as I unlock trains. But 30 items is a bit too much ...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

I downloaded a mod with the new crafting recipes and updated my builds Purple science is basically what Yellow Science was before. You can insert from one rail assembler into two science assemblers and in turn use one iron stick assembler for two rail assemblers. That makes for a nice build. Howeve...

... Are you referring to the catastrophe following FFF#266? I don't like anything in that one, but IMHO, the removal of AM ingredient limits is by far the least offensive of the announced changes. Wube's behaviour following it actually has me warning my friends off this game (that included not upda...
