Re: [0.8.6] Linux doesn't show text

did you try with the low graphics option? I changed it in the .ini but the text still doesn't show. What's really weird is that after clicking through some menus I've noticed that a couple of characters will show up, but it seems to be random (shown here: http://i.imgur.com/wtp99lA.png and here: ht...

Re: [0.8.6] Linux doesn't show text

I would suspect that problem might actually be that you don't have necessary True Type Font that factorio is using. I'm not sure which fonts Factorio uses by default. That's my guess as well, and, yeah, the warnings are just warnings. Doubtfuly the cause of the problem. Edit: I just installed every...

[0.8.6] Linux doesn't show text

No text in the Linux version. http://i.imgur.com/b0x1WsI.png Happens with both 32bit and 64bit versions. Debian Unstable, Radeon HD 7770 gfx using fglrx drivers (offical ones from AMD). The game plays and images load just fine, I just can't read anything (which makes research impossible, more or les...

Re: Version 0.8.5

Do these bugs not exist in the Linux builds? yes, at least I assume so since it's the same code and this ↓ The linux release is delayed again for technical reasons for a few days. Which would imply that they are working on getting this version out to linux as well. I wonder if linux is more problem...

Re: Version 0.8.5

Because I recently got Linux booting on my gaming machine (an obscure BIOS bug was "fixed"), and everything plays but I'd rather not spend time playing Factorio if my save is going to get corrupted.

I do not approve of this change -_-

I'm sure you have your reasons, but, gaming on Linux is annoying enough without having to screw with tarballs (it breaks the FHS). dpkg -i factorio*deb is awfully nice.

Thank you for your hard work!

Doesn't it explicitly say "please seed your demo torrents" ?
It's never enough.

Re: Seeding the demo

I am willing to seed this on my personal privately shared virtual machine server. It has a gigabit connection to the internet and I'd limit it to around 100KB/sec per connection so it doesn't eat up my bandwidth over the months. However, to do this, I would need explicit permission from the develope...

Re: Giant Capacitors

Stuff like this is planned, and very much does exist in real life. They usually take strange shapes, such as pumping a bunch of water up in to a lake, then draining it through turbines to reclaim the power. Hospitals and large important buildings such as the telephone company's central office use gi...

Re: Energy Loss Over Distance

I would imagine that there are many shortcuts that can be taken to calculate energy loss. It's a bad example, but in the Industrialcraft mod it's as "simple" as "anything past X blocks implies Y loss per block". At first glance, that sounds like a pretty light computation to make...

For many reasons I told myself I wasn't going to get in on this topic, but, well, I can't hold back any longer. Having separate classes would make the game more interesting Wrong. Wrongwrongwrongwrong wrong WRONG. Stuff like this greatly limits the player. Even Dungeons & Dragons allows multicla...

Re: Failing the Kickstarter

My suggestion is to get with some of the casters on sites such as http://twitch.tv In particular is Riptide, who streams during the day and is fairly well known for doing indie games. He's been streaming Don't Starve since it was first available, among others. Having one of the game makers in the st...

Re: Linux Support!

There are always dependencies, even if it's just libc. Here's what Factorio depends on (just the output of ldd, package names can be inferred): kosh games # ldd factorio linux-gate.so.1 => (0xf7730000) libasound.so.2 => /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libasound.so.2 (0xf761c000) libpng12.so.0 => /lib/i386-l...
