Could you add a 2HF -> H2 F2 separation, too?
I'm playing AngelsBobs with Nuclear Power and would like to have another drain for fluorine from acid gas separation.

Re: Train Mod

He probably meant that the ingame hints provided by vanilla factorio are sufficient.

In my eyes, you weren't specific enough about that "train mod". Like, what should it help with (i.e. what information should be shown) and in which way should it change the game mechanics.

Full speed lane / dual lane network

Hello guys. Since there are no bridges / tunnels, how can one build a dual lane (two lines in the same direction) where track-track crossing doesn't act as a bottleneck? In OpenTTD one can use the rule of thumb: "split before merge" where the lane switch block is at least a train length. S...

Re: [0.14.0-3] Player movement during desynch

That feeling of powerlessness is the most frustrating ever. I mean, I wouldn't care that much if I happened to "catch up" on a rail track, but to actually prevent that running into the wilderness, one has to use robots to place walls in front of oneself each time he wants to use "wasd...

I believe it's not possible since there are only factorio binaries compiled against i386 and AMD64, but not ARMv8 which is the one RPi 3 has built in.

Re: Make trains go certain paths

You can block the unwanted paths by connecting the rail signals using red/green wires (and combinators if needed)

Keep in mind, you can't force a train to go to a specific station (like two stations having the same name) due to pathfinding issues which might get addressed by the 0.14 update

I love the fact how people work around limitations.

I also love playing a game which is being actively developed.

Usually I go the other way round: cutting power supply for the miners and even some production like assemblers mk3. Using gophers S-R latch doesn't even give me flickers.

Re: Friday Facts #147 - Multiplayer rewrite

Oh, there is a ssd in my comp but it's occupied by whinedos for when I want to play some other games, it needs it ;)

On my default OS, making a ramdisk is fairly easy, also factorio doesn't eat that much ram, so I have some to spare.

I love the fact that this great game runs native on a proper OS:)

What I know about lean/timwood/wormpit, this sounds really like one of those 7 wastes: "over engineering" :)

PS: clarity about objectives helps a lot, especially on how to weight them :)

My saves go way faster, because I'm loading the whole factorio folder into a ramdisk before starting it and save it back after it closes.

I think it would be best to use the transmission control protocol to get the game state over the network since it's made for transferring data in a reliable fashion. If you really must use the user datagram protocol, my suggestion is to use it for a mumble server/client application so people can tal...

Re: Oil, derivates and combinators?

To be honest, that sounds a bit vague ;) If you want to optimize your factory towards less buffer used, you'd have to live with stuff not being delivered in time. In the cars industry, they usually have heli pads so if a supplier is late on his delivery, he can use that. I don't know if you want to ...

Re: Oil, derivates and combinators?

I guess you're missing the point. As far as I understood him, he wants a lean production, preferring to not crack at all since some material get lost in the process. Obviously, in most cases demand for petroleum is the highest but he, as far as I understand him, wants a system which adopts to the de...

Re: Oil, derivates and combinators?

The thing is you can always transform any excess of heavy or light oil into petroleum, but you can't do the reverse. If your factory encoutners a (longer than expected) spike in heavy or light oil need, there is no way you can prevent stalling, except by "burning" excess petroleum gas (by...

Re: Oil, derivates and combinators?

Do you have estimates on what you're mainly consuming on how spiky the demand is? In general, use always-on pumps to get the refined products into 3 "input tanks". Also have 5 "output tanks", one each for lubricant, heavy oil, light oil and two for petrol (one for plastics, one f...

Re: Friday Facts #147 - Multiplayer rewrite

UDP will always be the holy grail in real time communications. Its used in Voip, Streams, First-person-shooter, etc. and should be used by Factorio. Sure there can be many errors, but there are concepts to migrate for mistakes in development. VoIP, Streams and FPS are very good examples for using U...

combining train waiting conditions

Hello there fellow factorians. I was wondering how a combination of multiple waiting conditions evaluate. Like multiple AND/OR. Reading the list from top to bottom, is "A && B || C" equal to "(A && B) || C" or "A && (B || C)"? Also, is it possibl...
