Would be kind of funny to see items spill off the belt at the end, or if it stalls they'll randomly get pushed off the sides. Maybe a future suggestion for a "Murphy Mode".5thHorseman wrote: ↑Thu Sep 03, 2020 1:33 amActually what we need is to not limit the number of items on a belt.

...It's amazing how these "please nerf all playstyles except my own" threads never stop. I guess, that's because new players arrive after launch :) I've started referring to it as "litigating game design". Because they remind me of what many frivolous law suits sound like, when r...

Normally I dislike the "make it optional" argument for things..... but wouldn't this be a prime candidate for a map setting at creation, like the biter values? Knowing the insanity this might cause the Devs..... Bot Collision? Holding patterns (on open tiles) around chests would seriously ...

Re: Big problem on how to load ovens with coal
They are both infinitesimal in comparison to an entire factory. If you're playing on some crazy limited resource game sure it could matter I suppose, but in a typical game of Factorio you should never even notice the difference. Exactly this. Typical starting smelting column has 48 furnaces and pro...

Re: Circuit / Crate Supply all in one place?
Yeah, noticed that after I posted. Is there a way to see which chest something is located in? Not really.... at least not without mods. The game's UI treats the logistics network as one large enumeration pool. Half the point of the logistics network is to get rid of the concern of where things are ...

This image might be helpful, because it demonstrates 2 useful concepts..... Side loading, and Splitter filtering https://wiki.factorio.com/images/Swap_belt_lanes.png Side loading is a concept where a belt intersects with another belt perpendicular, it'll place items on that one side of the belt. Not...

Another very simple steel column for a starter base... Simple starter steel.png Protip for anyone who doesn't know this yet....... Splitters can act as filters. As shown in the picture by Amarula. Click on it, set ouput priority to right or left, and select an item for the filter. This will filter ...

I also forgot to mention.... if you haven't read up on how Enemies and Pollution works, you may want to take the time to learn a few things. Enemy Evolution is intentionally an Arms Race with the player. The catch though is that, the more you scale up your factory, the more pollution it generates. P...

Re: bugs getting closer
if you're new, turret logistics can be a huge pain. The main problem comes down to how big of an area you're defending. To prevent biters from just rushing in, you need one of the following (or a combination of). - Enough turrets to cover the direction they're coming from. - Enough turrets in one sp...

I don't doubt that somewhere in the forum there are millions of threads like this, but I can't find it. So, the question is simple: what is the player called? I know Minecraft has it's Steve, and more games have different names for their protagonists, but I've never seen anyone mention the Factorio...

Re: Coal liquefaction energy efficiency
Since people are doing math..... how much energy is wasted using a heat exchanger vs a boiler for the cracking process? I'm curious, because I usually do this for Rocket fuel production in late game, so I don't have to retool oil production on the research side. Just set up a dedicated heat exchange...

Re: this game is sick
How fast you can finish a basic goal (like launch a rocket), depends on how much you understand the game's mechanics, and how organized you are, and good you are with factory design. I do 3 or 4 playthroughs a years (explicitly to give me time to forget some stuff), and I typically take 50 hours. Bu...

Well for what it's worth to devs taking feedback, I'll certainly keep game on steam wishlist and check back, but not buying atm purely due to how the demo tutorial seems to make the game so hard and vague in some areas. Youtube intros like Katherine of Sky's videos made Factorio seem super fun and ...

I keep picturing Protoss probes, but in a higher pitch. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BNrxFAJqDFI Listening to the sound directly, its a mix of Radio tuners, Modem modulation, and fun with pitch distortion. You can be sloppy and still get launch a rocket. You just get smarter about it as you build more. But don't worry too much...... unless you start going down the spreadsheet rabbit hole, you'll be ok.
