Re: Friday Facts #38
Arggg.. Was really crossing my fingers for a soon-ish release of 0.10.1 for some of the bugfixes. The shotgun pellet bug isn't too bad since we can just use other weapons or run FreeERs mod but the turrets not firing is really maddening. I spend so much time now jogging from wall to wall keeping the...

Re: Dealing with a lack of oil.
Should I leave the pumpjacks on the old oil wells even if they have practically dried up? Definately!! Each 'depleted' oil well can deliver 360 units of oil per hour. A cluster of 6 'depleted' wells, equipped with Speed-3 modules will deliver ~4000 units per hour! Sure, you're not going to be power...

Re: [0.9.1] Logistic robot suicide
Yay! Looks like this one has been pretty much solved! From 0.10.0 patch notes: Features: ... Logistic and Construction robots slowdown to 20% of regular speed when out of energy (instead of dying). ... Now we can watch for bots limping around to know where the problems are without losing tons of rob...

Re: Pirating as a 'demo'. Your opinions?
Gonna chime in here, as I did in the other thread on this subject; I pirated factorio first, loved it, and bought a copy without a second thought. I've since bought another copy for my oldest son (I know I could have just copied the archive over to his machine but meh, Factorio kicks ass and the dev...

Re: Updating the wiki
It's great to see the wiki coming along, thanks! I'm working on pages for the capsules/nades and adding snazzy animated GIFs to show how the work, assuming I don't muck everything up. Still a wiki-noob. :P If it turns out okay, I bet they'll work great for showing how the belt/inserter/train setups ...

Discovered as in synthetically made in a lab, it's stable for much less than a second where after is breaks down, ... The chance of finding a "new" element in nature, on this or any other planet, is small, very very very small. Island of stability . <-- Interesting read on the subject, es...

Re: Railway network ned help
I'm pretty sure trains will refuse to enter a section of rail where all the signals are on the left side. Add a signal to the other side of the track on the red line and that should let them use it. For one-way track, always have signals on the right. I think signals on both sides will allow two-way...

WOW! That's it! I finally get it...thank you!! cool, I might use this in my next game :) my current game I've already made the full switch to solar...but wow I like this. I'd love to use this during the transition from coal to solar, but I realized I have another problem to think about...my coal wo...

"Belt Transport"? Seems straightforward without being confusable with other terms. The Belt Transport System consists of Transport belts, Splitters, Underground belts, Inserters and Storages.... Would go well with sister pages "Rail Transport" and "Logistics Transport" ...

Re: Friday Facts #20 The release buzz
I disagree that demo should start with pre-built factory. I loved starting with nothing and having the tension what new i discover every minute. Starting with whole factory would probably leave me overwhelmed and spoiled the slow exploring. Same here. As gamers though, I think most of us here are m...

Re: Backup Power
Ahh yeah, it's a little confusing just looking at it. It's actually pretty simple though. Lemme see if I can explain it clearly.. 1. You have your plain old main power grid with batteries right? 2. You create a second, tiny grid with just one pole. Use shift to place it with no wires near one of you...

Re: Setting Difficulty
Try a shotgun on the trees. It'll clear your vegetation problems right up. I tried the richness setting on enemy bases a few versions back and I seem to remember having fewer artifacts drop from destroyed spawners. Might be wrong though. No idea what the "oldschool/hardcore" diff...

Re: Trains
Excellent. I get to abuse my calculator again. Say you had a big hungry factory; it requires 10,000 items per minute (copper, iron, coal, stone). Say those resources were 1000 tiles away. At ~1800 items per minute per express belt, you'd need 6 Express belts side-by-side to get the through...

1. Add a nice background, updated videos and maybe some links to popular "let's play"s to the factorio.com website. That's where your 'buy' button is. The more cool/crazy 'stuff' people see there, the more value they feel like they're getting for their money! 2. Streamline the controls in ...

What problem are you having exactly? Maybe post up your save game and I'll take a look at what went wrong?
It's not exactly small but it's the only one I have for the current version:

Re: Thank you so very much
Tanks sound like great fun. I was just thinking today that it might be fun to have a bulldozer to clear trees but then I remembered I had a shotgun :P Hahaha. Yeah, shotgun is just perfect for bulldozing for rail lines and clearing off resource depots. I just wish the trees around the edges could h...

I would love to see something like this: http://i1200.photobucket.com/albums/bb324/Psycho0124/LolHarvester_zps8ea5d49d.jpg~original Cruise over the piled dead critters outside the walls and for every corpse ground up, you get a small chance that the harvester will extract an artifact (maybe some oth...

Re: Kill the biters
tbh it's a very good question, and a catch-22 situation. the majority of what you suggested requires the pink research pack, which in turn requires alien orbs, which in turn requires killing the bases, which in turn requires the majority of what you suggested etc etc. The combat shotgun doesn't req...

Re: what do you think the bare minimum is to play
The problem with such (softwares) is that they are quite complex and therefore require quite a lot of coding to make them. And that is the main reason why such systems are not so popular. Exactly. Development costs are still too high on software with dynamic load splitting, games especially with th...

Re: what do you think the bare minimum is to play
More cores is nice for multi-tasking but for gaming (even multi-threaded games since there is always one 'main' thread), you really want Single Thread Performance in a CPU. My rig (built spring last year): Intel I7 3770K OCed (stable) @ 4.2Ghz ASRock Z77 Extreme4 EVGA Nvidia 660Ti w/3GB GDDR5 16Gb M...
