Re: Military suggestion

I am not contradicting myself. In fact, you've proved my point -- using automated defenses is end-game. huh? your previous comment has no point, I don't understand what your trying to convey here, there is no way currently to clear a path to iron or copper from the biters, without using your person.

way to contradict yourself, why attack biters manually when you have the technology to do it automated? then same with setting up new copper/iron mines, its gets tedious and repetitive.

Re: SILVER????

so is gold, silicon, tantalum, palladium, zinc, bismuth, nickel, antimony, etc. I don't think Factorio needs more resources to be a great game, I think Iron, Oil, and Copper is sufficient, if they do plan to add another natural resource, Iron and Copper better stay as the base requirements for earl...

yeah this pretty much, x3games is fairly hardcore and at leasts requires a day to learn and play. I guess it depends on your definition of casual and your exposure to harder games.

Re: I did the Math on Oil Production

this is all well and good but whats the point of building the oil industry just the right size? when you might as-well go as big as you can because you can always convert the excess, controlling it via pumps would be a lot easier.

Re: Map Editor instructions

Basically you did not say anything useful... sorry, the only thing I got hung up on was the spawn point thing, theres two flag looking icons within the map editor, one of them will set a spawn point. if you're doing a mutiplayer map you might want to put it away from where your going to build your ...

Re: End game theory and gameplay ideas

the game could go into multiple directions, all of them couldn't be terrible I like the idea of going of into space and building factorys on other worlds rather than go into the RPG experience, thats not what really factorio is about imo. edit -- would also help the fix for the always desire to star...

Re: Map Editor instructions

trial and error unfortunately, at least thats how I learned, i'm unsure if the official tutorial has a thing on it but I doubt it. although once you figure it out it isn't all that bad, it reminds me off the old c&c red alert map editor so if you've used that its pretty much like that.

Re: Go home Factorio, you're drunk

This just really hammers home the need to be able to make bridges in vanilla. The Roadworks mod is nice, but you cant place belts or tracks on them, and landfill is cool because you can, but its not a bridge. 5Dim has some neat tracks that are able to be placed on water, and even electric trains (w...

Re: So, are aliens intelligent anyway?

well from first glance you could say the biters follow alot of influence from zerg faction from starcraft, so with some home grown lore, perhaps a *cough* queen *cough* I mean faction leader, I think they could be fleshed out fairly well to do such things as democracy. the starcraft zerg lore is fai...

I switched to 0.12.25 via steam and then switched back and it fixed itself, so I have no idea the cause or solution.
