[0.17.65] [Visual] Belt shadows/wheels rare inconsistent overlapping

This is highly likely to be very minor but search gave me almost nothing, so I think I've gotta report. Apologies for any misdeeds. When you place two or more belts on diagonally adjacent blocks so that they are all directioned towards the same block, two visual glitches might appear: 1) [red circle...

Re: Landfill needs a change. 20 Stone for 1 tile? Ridiculous!

I guess landfill (and cliffs) cost better be expressed with mining time, not with resources. Landfill, OK. But cliffs? How do you mine cliffs? You just drop some explosives on them … Exactly this. Imagine a funny custom action sequence (with temporary loss of player entity movement control during &...

Re: Landfill needs a change. 20 Stone for 1 tile? Ridiculous!

Water is one of the few restrictive parts of the terrain. It should be expensive to remove. Trees are also a restrictive part of the terrain but pretty much not that expensive to remove via cheap splash damage sources like grenades. In terms of operational costs landfill takes most resources per ti...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Sulfur to Plastics is going to be hard to explain though, Factorio not having an in-game encyclopedia... AFAIK while sulfur is the main ingredient here it is ridiculously hard to polymerize so vinyls are used as a polymerization agent in this technology. Here's a video on the process where 65% pure...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

I still disagree that this "is really dangerous to change". This already happened pre-AOP & cracking (hence why you all feel as though the 0.17.60 change needed to be made, if I understand correctly) and so really is no more "dangerous" should it fail. PG would still be requ...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Seeing this made we remember someone else’s mod that I use: https://mods.factorio.com/mod/math7BasicElecEngine Good to see that I was thinking in the direction someone else had ever been, although the main recipe introduced in that mod looks too complex for the early game. I too find the devs' take...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Why not just remove lubricant from electric engines recipe and maybe add it to other higher-level recipes instead? Nah, it's really better to keep those intact. What if some early basic red science tech is implemented instead to unlock, say, electric motors recipe? Imagine, motors are made of 2 coi...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

9) 0.17.60 is out. The part of the community that was the more hostile to the change is still hostile and voices it continuously, but during the last period, there were more people saying they either approved the changes (totally or partially) or didn't care much. I'd like to point out here that th...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

I'd like to thank V for his valiant efforts into these changes and for what he's been through to polish them. At the same time I still think that the core BOP recipe change is overly simplistic and the whole oil-related tech tree now feels lacking some complexity in the midgame. I hope that all thes...

Re: [0.17.59] Placing train shows power zones

This is one of those things where... sure - it could be changed to only show when the thing uses electricity - but why change it? Will it make the game better by not showing it in the cases where it is now? I don't know. As for me, while this is 100% a low priority thing it is still a thing because...

Re: New "Complex" difficulty

Definitely in favor of this idea. It will be most delectable if this is implemented as a core game content and if this also covers not only just oil processing tree but more other game activities too. For instance, it might also include adding more Explosives/Solid/Rocket/Nuclear fuel as correspondi...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

The problem is that you only need as much lube as you need belts or bots. You don't need light oil to make solid fuel. Perhaps it would be better to have PG make plastics, light oil make sulfur, and heavy oil makes solid fuel in the most efficient ratios, but all 3 products can be made from all 3 o...

Sorry for the late reply. [...] Correct me if I’m wrong but petroleum gas would only go into plastic? Maybe I could find a new place that would consume petroleum gas in addition to the existing recipe... [...] You mean, a some way to spend PG before/besides plastic? Why, again, not to go for power/m...

Re: allowing monitor to be turned off by power option?

Just wanted to fill in a bug report on the monitor thing but there's this nice topic :) The game tells the operating system "don't go into sleep/low power mode - I'm a game and am actively using the CPU/graphics card". You see, a display is still just an upgraded lamp, you don't really nee...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Adding my voice to the diminishing chorus of people who are for the idea that abandoning Heavy oil at Basic oil processing is an oversimplification. While the FFF-305 cleared a lot of things up for me and, again, I'm generally in favor of what is going to be done, there are some issues i'd like to v...

Hahaha, I just started to submerge myself in mod creation β€” and here I am, totally stripped of any intent to continue further

Thank you for implementing this in a mod! I'm definitely going to playtest it later today and I'll post back on when I'm done.

Dropping in to insert my 0,05 P on the upcoming Basic oil processing recipe change (which I happen to find imprecise and overdone although I'm generally in favor of the direction). A 500+ish hours ~2 year factorian myself, I spent a day googling and self-educating on the topic and reading this threa...

Re: Language setting resets after updates (0.17.x)

I've been experiencing similar behavior with CDPR's Witcher and Steam a couple of months ago. I have Steam set to english locale, thus the locales for the game were also set to english. I was then forced to change voice and caption locales ingame to russian/polish every launch, and these two setting...
