Re: Add option to turn off syncing of autosave to Steam Cloud
But how does Steam know which files need to be synced? Clearly either the game submits a list, or the save folder is synced directly. In either case, there are ways to subvert that.

Add option to turn off syncing of autosave to Steam Cloud
What it says on the tin. When your internet connection is made of bamboo, this can be relevant. As tiny as a normal save can be (my largest save is 10MB, after compression, although more ambitious players might have twice that), the syncing of these files eats my bandwidth for several minutes. In th...

Re: Waste production Mod/Development proposal
Alright, maybe you're not explaining it well enough then. Tell me: If every entity in the game has a trash output, how will you make sure that it won't be picked up by regular inserters? How are you going to avoid clogged belts from it without having to place filter inserters everywhere? How are you...

Re: Diminshing Pollution should heal Trees
But not all of these trees are dead. Some might recover. I did a steam engine switch just like you did, too- does your setup also allow the accumulators to charge up to 50% before switching the engines off again? Mine additionally severs all accumulators and solar panels from the main network to all...

Re: Waste production Mod/Development proposal
When I say "logistical nightmare", I mean in a way that's not fun. You realize new players are overwhelmed with the content as it is, right? If every entity has a trash output, everything gets even more complicated. Hell, every non-filter inserter would become entirely useless! My point be...

Re: color coding blueprint book
In other games I saw this: Grouping of the slots by number-key (they are not needed for selecting items while in the blueprint-mode!) This worked about so: "1" chooses the first 5 entries, "2" the next 5 and so on. When choosing a group you can choose the slot in the group also ...

I have no idea where People get the Idea that everything Radioactive is Green... where did that Start? I made a huge post about how not all ore is the same, and people seem to be completely ignoring it. I put so much research into it! Why won't you appreciate my work?! Plutonium is a Heavier Elemen...

Re: Waste production Mod/Development proposal
Oh yes, I've discussed this before. It seems to me that people who suggest this do so to increase realism- without ever considering the crippling impact this would have on gameplay. Long story short: It's not viable. It's not interesting. It makes things more complicated for the sake of complexity. ...

Re: Friday Facts #179 - New resource graphics & concrete
We don't care. It's going to be green in Factorio because that looks better. Never let realism get in the way of fun/good game play :-) But I'm wondering about something else. Is uranium going to be a single use ore? As in, it is only useful for power generation? As everything else has multiple use...

You'd be surprised how pretty geology can be sometimes. Just look at this pyrite crystal, another iron ore.golfmiketango wrote: Wow, I had no clue it was so pretty.
And keep in mind: It hasn't been altered in any way, that's just how they grow naturally.
There are many more examples, but that's enough.

Hold on, I thought you could connect the train station to the circuit network to read train contents. From there, limiting item loads is trivial.

The rail pathfinding always searches for the shortest route. How do you expect the computer to magically guess what it is you want it to do instead?
I mean, what IS it you want it to do instead?

There's more than one ore for anything. HematitaEZ.jpg This is hematite, the most common iron ore. Chalcopyrite-Quartz-237645.jpg This is Chalcopyrite, a copper ore. You do know you can destroy a chest by pointing at it with your mouse and pressing C, right?
I know that's not the solution you're looking for, but this has been suggeted a billion times anyway.

Re: Hot water barrelling
You should've posted that question in General Discussions instead.
While there will be universal barreling, I see no way to conserve heat.
That said, there's been discussions about storing and shipping heat directly, through phase-change materials for example.
