Re: How do YOU use mining drills?
I don't pull or push anything. What you described is most likely a Push System, as it is pushing full Ore Trains into the Smelting Stops. This would indeed not work well with Train Stop priorities. Simple way to describe pull and push is: PUSH: Ore Trains wait at the Outpost Stops (train limit > 1)...

Re: Friday Facts #387 - Swimming in lava
Hrrm, how about using Circuits instead of Splitters to prioritize the mixed Ore Belt going to the Train Buffers, and the Train Buffers once they exceed one Train Cargo Wagon Load will send a Circuit signal to the pure Belts to stop them from filling the Buffer? Obviously this is a more difficult thi...

Re: Friday Facts #387 - Swimming in lava
I would like to clarify that the Miners facing into a Splitter is a thing I do to futureproof for insane levels of Mining Productivity and only once Blue/Olive Belts are researched. Helps with postponing the need of direct to Train mining. For the earlygame I use the "yellow Underground Belt wi...

Re: Friday Facts #387 - Swimming in lava
I just remembered something that is only slightly related but still important to this debate! The new Train Stop Priorities can make it so you use up the mixed ore patches first before trains from the other patches get used. Just remember to limit the amount of trains to the amount of SINK stops as ...

Re: Friday Facts #387 - Swimming in lava
I often point two Miners into a Splitter, so I guess one could just filter that Splitter to fill two belts based on which resource they are for, and that at the instant they are mined, without needing a late Splitter to filter the Belt?

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
I like the concept of scrap resource, but if I was a dev, I create layers of recycling. The scrap could turn electronic scrap, metal scrap, or rubble; or this could be different types of resource in planet This would not only complicate things needlessly, it would also just be one extra step in rec...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
The drawback is that some player may not understand the tools given to them so that they can handle the infinite stone. May I remind you of the Ingame Tutorial Hint System that is definitely going to tell people how to void Stuff? That or they just build Chests upon Chests to store all the Stone be...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
Incoherent Rambling: Activate! ----- Okay why exactly is it so bad to have too much Stone if you can void it once you have stored enough? These are all the other Planets, not the starting Planet. Once you are in Space, resources like Copper, Iron and Stone are infinite. (even if slow) Drop Pods are ...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
This discussion reminds me that you could just have a small Spaceship that has purely the purpose of being a mobile Mini-Mall using Selector Combinators to select Recipes for things that you have less than, lets say 30, and then just have ONE Assembler craft those things from harvested Asteroid Mate...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
I will try to bring recyclers with me when you going to Fulgora for the first time, on the space platform after seeing those FFF , or have a space platform ready to leave Nauvis for Fulgora with some of them. Hate to break it to you but I am very certain Recyclers are UNLOCKED using Fulgoras "...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
I wonder - how do you build a factory on Fulgora from scratch? The devs said, that every planet needs to have a way to craft a rocket from from scratch using its resources (even if it may be inefficient and/or expensive). How do you recycle scrap when you have no recyclers? You know how the crashed...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
I feel like Factorio was always missing "internal conflict" in the sense of having something specific to protect against that usually is located INSIDE the Base, like a Hole in the ground that mobile Worms come out of every now and then, which you cant just plug to close it, or if you plu...

Ah there goes the moderator intervention as I predicted would eventually happen. XD
I was just curious how exactly the argument even came to be and what playstyle one would have to have to argue using those specific points. ^^

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
Second, you're asking me to replace boredom (waiting) with annoyance (repetitive and unnecessary reconstruction.) No thanks! Third, I am most definitely not using minimum ore settings, or even the default, as I find myself having to increase the ore patch numbers, size and richness to their absolut...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
It's mostly space-saving and resource-saving actually. Due to the tiny, depleting nature of ore patches, you don't get all that much from one patch so you have to maximize the materials you get by placing as few miners and assemblers as possible. Plus, you drastically cut down on the amount of spac...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
No, I'm talking about science packs in general. I only tend to use enough to build one of EVERYTHING, per science pack. (Because it's simply a hassle to build more, due to my methods of construction not exactly being neat and clean. They are VERY spaghetti.) Here's my current setup: For my Red scie...

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure
Currently, it's not only too easy, it's too boring. Like I said, once you have up to green science set up, it becomes an idle game. Short bursts of activity, then massive lengths time waiting for things to be built. Real-time watching-paint-dry simulator 2024. Are you talking about the phase where ...
