Oh! I totally overlooked that having 2 radars and 6 pumps instead of 1 and 3 increases the consumption from 390 to 780. No wonder adding more pumps increased boiler usage by 2-3 each, because adding more pumps redistributed more power to them from the radars, not increased water throughput! And actu...

Ah, that could work. Also test with my method, where you add furnaces until right before they start stacking up and belts become fully compressed. Have you tested for the max throughput of fast belts?

@ssilk: With how simple and effective my electric furnace setup is I get the best of both worlds :D And the % loss is actually quite noticeable. The decompression bottleneck and the belt merge point I mentioned and cerb measured and made a picture of would limit my setup to only be able to output 8 ...

Ah, I see what you mean. You meant each small pump would only supply about half of each row, which is 5, and 15 is 3 half rows of 5 each. I'm aware yes. But I'm also pointing out that the method I use to calculate is much simpler to do. Give it a try, add smelting speeds on all furnaces outputting on a fast belt to get the total amount, divide that by 36, that's how maxed out the fast belt is. :P And as said in the above post, the ite...

The small pumps shut off when there's no coal left, blocking the cold water from the offshore pumps from entering, and then the hot water tanks take over completely. Yeah, that's also the aspect I'd like to improve on, when coal does run out. Though the existing setup is good for saving even more on the resources needed to set this up. And for the pump after boiler thing, assuming it would work by turning off if there's no coal...I should do that heh. Too bad it...

One of the steam engine lines aren't connected btw, second up from the bottom. </nitpicking> I like the more efficient placement in the power poles, nice job with that.
