Re: --mp-load-save (Command Line Parameter)
I know *how* to run multiple instances; the problems are: * Steam Link/Remote Play doesn't like running multiple games at onceāI can manage it, but it's even more cumbersome than the problem I would like to be able to solve, which is being able to open the game and load the save in a single action....

Re: Special skins rewards based on playtime
No thanks. I enjoy this game without the asinine superficial "rewards" To be honest, I wish achievements did not exist in this game. I never liked achievements as it creates a superficial feeling of accomplishments. I think Valve/Steam was on a mega-brutal drug that day when they said ther...

Re: Suggestions for the expansion.
I always wanted a recycler, but that is what a modifier is for. I hate putting depreciated items into crates and destroying them. I recycle my boilers and burner drills and furnaces with a mod. I have to admit, I think Satisfactory when it comes to resources. Sure Satisfactory is an infinite resourc...

Re: ARM Build
I would love to see an ARM server support as my current game server is 700-watt power-hungry server and would like an alternative to a mainframe server.

Re: Blur effect
Sound like you are encountering some sort of VGA corruption. This game, or any 2d game for that matter, does not have motion blur. I am going to look into that. Thank you for your help. I just thought about this also: Your memory could also be bit-flipping due to a possible DRAM corruption. This ga...

Re: Above 60 fps (120 or 144).
I use a plasma tv, which refreshes literally like a cathode-ray tube. So I get the most realistic video responses anyways. But I think it would be interesting to see 120fps off a plasma tv.

Headless mode can be ran on virtually any modern OS. I use windows server as it has the best threaded performance and minimal footprint upon the memory. processors, and storage.

I love them all. I also built a music list mod of my own music that I integrated with the original music.

I would love to see a "craptorio" for windows 98se, just for the utter humour of it.

Re: Space Age: will different planets be on different threads?
The thing with Factorio is that it can use 10 trillion CPU cores @5.7GHz and will probably only get a 1-3% increase. This game specifically depends on the DRAM bandwidth/latencies. Wube is smart at what they do and know their code. If Multicore was beneficial, they would have integrated it a long ti...

Re: Possibly suppoert for SMT technology and NUMA
I do know this game is DRAM dependent, so I am wondering if I populate all 16 DDR3-1866 slots, will that give any performance increase? It is 8-channel memory supported. Theoretically yes. It also uses NUMA. Will Factorio benefit from that feature also? I had to look up what NUMA actually means, an...

Re: Possibly suppoert for SMT technology and NUMA
I just read up on multicore tech. I did not realise that using more processor cores could actually degrade performance. I also did not realise that it would be a monumental task to code such a thing. Now I understand why this game does not use mass-core usage.

I also want to add that you all are incredibly awesome. The only other development studio that is like this is Colossal Order. Wube and CO are my favourites as you both keep in constant communications with you customers/users. Thanks for keeping your integrity where others have fallen.

If every byte was set to the true 64-bit integer (1 decellion), this game would need ~200 TB of memory. So that is why these practical values exist.

So pretty much this game could use a trillion cores and still be bound to the DRAM, to what I am getting at.Rseding91 wrote: āSat Sep 02, 2023 6:04 pmYou can read the 22~ pages of discussion here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=39893 but the TL-DR version of it is: because maxing out cores is not the bottleneck.
