It might be not a new Science Pack, but alternative recipes for existing ones.
Something like " *** Science Pack + xxx Alien Artifacts -> 2x *** Science Packs".

Also allow drones to automatically pick Alien Artifacts from the ground, to automate artifacts harvesting in defences range.

What if we have two pumps in the same lake?
That's the point, overall output is determined not by pumps amount, but by covered water area.

Each water tile generates X water every tick. Pumps gather up to XXX water every tick from nearby water tiles.

I suggest to go further : you compressed ore into plates, but you can compress Iron Plates into Steel Plates, Iron Gears and Engines right in mining outposts. Allowing players to build canals is an too-easy defence against biters in default game: they cannot pass through and would allow to build undestroyable defences, if you build the canal far out so that no spitter can attack anything of value. Unfortunately, inserters simulation is oddly detailed. I'd prefer much simpler simulation with exact rotation speed and throughput.

The color of wire is just there for player distinction. It has no bearing upon the circuit network. Connecting two wires to an entity has that entity sharing all signals across both wires. It does not matter if they are two red wires, two green wires, or one red and one green. It's incorrect. Each ...

I believe it's actually very hard in terms of circuit network implementation. And counterintuitive.
But choose different behaviors in different networks - why not?
