Re: Control science production based on research?
Seems to be working decently, I had to learn how to logistic to do it and am still pretty vague about it, but it was a good learning exercise. Until now I had only used construction bots.

Re: First attempt at a main bus system
Each person is entitled to play however they want, though. If the goal is to see how wide a bus you can come up with, the more items you can find an excuse to put on the bus, the better. If the goal is to make the most efficient/effective use of resources, then you would want to limit the bus to ext...

Re: First attempt at a main bus system
I enjoyed Zisteaus main bus video series and more or less duplicated it in mirror (left to right rather than right to left) because of lake placement on my map. It worked pretty good but by the end I was frustrated over the number of items left out that I would have included if I hadn't been such a ...

Re: Map Overlays
Never heard that story, I searched for the term "overlay" because as a PhotoShop user to me "layers" means something completely different, despite the interrelation between the terms. I don't know why the first article you linked did not show up when I did that search, but it did...

Re: Requester chests should default to zero or one
Ah, serves me right for doing a search for my other ideas then immediately forgetting to search for this one. Thanks, Fish. Unfortunate that the devs would summarily discard an idea that makes so much sense (even more so after reading the thread you linked), the whole idea of having logistics in pro...

Free Items?
Ok, I don't entirely understand the Productivity Modules...is the extra production basically giving you extra items for free, as in they do not cost any raw materials?

Re: Science Packs 1 - 3 in a 16x17 Grid
I love these designs because they are very creative, but with just one assembler making each type of science pack how do you compensate for the fact that Science Pack 1s take 5 seconds to make, 2s take 6 seconds, 3s take 12 seconds and 4s take 1.2 seconds (12 seconds divided by 10 because you get 10...

Re: Better train loading system
I came up with this to equalize the amount of ore in each lane, and it will load a train of any length (it is more or less infinitely extendable) in 22 seconds on one side of the tracks, 11 seconds on both sides. Pity you can only adjust the train schedule in 5 second increments. I have yet to try i...

Re: That moment when,
You spend hours designing new ways to load and unload trains, and then realise there's nothing left for them to haul because every ore deposit you have been mining is now thoroughly depleted. While at the same time, the ores and plates you had stockpiled have been completely drained by your belts/lo...

Re: The most useless thing in game.
Hard to say, one mans trash is another mans treasure as they say. Grenades are useful for clearing forest, especially in the early game when the basic shotgun is a very slow alternative. The exit button, well, some people use it...occasionally...I hear... Fish are...well, I hear some people use them...

Re: I did the Math on Oil Production
...in my current base I have 6 refineries that I'm using only for PG, and after doing this math I realized that I needed 10.5 chem plants cracking the light oil to PG and only 1.5 cracking heavy to light. Wouldn't you want to have 1 heavy-to-light and leave the rest of the Heavy Oil for making Lubr...

Re: Are the enemies going to be redesigned?, first game awesome
I'll assume you know that hitting Alt key turns the display of pollution on and off, so what more do you need than the degree of redness as an indicator of pollution levels? For me, pollution reaches nests = enemies come over and attack me, and clumps of red = I need to install some efficiency modul...

I've noticed that console jockeys/fps players don't seem to be interested, at least that's my general impression...I've been wrong before...once. :P Anyone with OCD I think will love the game, but must be wary because it will consume all of your time. You will forget your job, your family, your frie...

So...why do people build on top of ore deposits so often?
One thing I have never understood is building on top of ore deposits before they are depleted, when you're just going to have to tear it all down to get at the materiel anyway. It would be one thing if the stuff were early game objects like Stone Furnaces, Burner Inserters and Burner Mining Drills t...
