Re: Friday Facts #168 - Nightvision Nightmare
I do like the samples provided in this post. Although I agree with some of the new night vision criticism--it could use some work--I really like the thinking behind it! Rewarding placement of lighting is an interesting idea, and other optic benefits could add to the usefulness of researching and wea...

Are there any plans or is the mod framework capable of providing a player privilege framework?

Re: Friday Facts #132 - Side Project
Whislt I use an iPhone, and look forward to the day I can factorio on the phone, I personally disagree with running factorio in the background. Why? Battery life. I have my phone already optimised to the max to extend battery life and I have absolutely no interest in a power sucking app killing my a...

Been a while, what happened?
It's been a while since I played Factorio, and something has changed (well, quite a bit has changed but...) is that when I hand craft stuff, the intermediate items don't appear anywhere, unless I cancel construction of an item. Is this expected? I always thought it was good to have to keep room for ...

Re: [0.12.19] El Capitan Launch Crash
I updated Factorio to 0.12.19 from 0.12.17 on Mac OSX elCapitan. Factorio refused to restart with an error '-10810' It turned out that execute permission was not set on /Applications/factorio.app/Contents/MacOS/factorio after the update. I had to use an xterm and run the command chmod +x /Applicatio...

Re: The Electric network infoscreen is counter-intuitive
I agree with the OP, the two graphs are counter intuitive to the first time player. A nice simple dial or bar graph showing percentage of production being consumed (which can be calculated from the existing bar graphs by the way) would be much clearer. The graphs (from the OP screen capture) show we...

Re: 0.12.8 Build 16825,Mac - Options - Key##
If you don't have a mouse with scroll wheel, you can always set the value to some key instead. Which I have done, but noticed the key bindings options page does not show all key names correctly, it shows 'Key61' which does not make the whole Mac experience as 'clean' as non-Mac. The same applies wi...

Re: Mac OSX Window Title 'Allegro' on startup
Instead, it's changed from the engine name to the game name sometime during startup, I guess after version information and a few other bits are loaded. On the Mac, it stays as Allegro until I maximise/minimise the window. (I start in windowed mode on both Mac and Linux) Factorio on LInux changes it...

Mac OSX Window Title 'Allegro' on startup
On startup, the window title is set to 'Allegro', not Factorio.
It stays that way until you maximise/minimise, at which time it changes to 'Factorio 0.12.8'.

0.12.8 Build 16825,Mac - Options - Key##
In the options -> Controls, some key mappings show things like 'KEY61' (which was a minus sign), and 'KEY62' (which is an equals sign), that I set as zoom in/out respectively. Only a visual thing. Macbook Pro, OSX latest. By the way, how do you zoom using a Mac, if you have a mighty mouse or only a ...

Re: [12.8] Using too much CPU / GPU for Idling in Main Menu
For me, version 12.8, Gentoo linux, 64 bit, nVidia GTX 660, 2G Video memory, driver version 352.30, Intel Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q9400 @ 2.66GHz, 8G memory, in windowed mode, on a 19" LCD panel (not widescreen). 14% CPU and 2% GPU on idle at main menu. Turning V-Sync on/off made little difference f...

Re: What are your Factorio quirks?
Running Factorio with the Aliens in non-aggressive mode. Then, running them and the spawners over with my tank to obtain the alien artifacts. They don't bother attacking me and when the final spawner is destroyed, they all run to the nearest spawner, leading me to the next one :) I do not have any a...

Re: [MOD 0.12.x] Blueprint Flipper - mirror your blueprints!
Really cool. It took me a while to figure out how to actually use it, It was counter intuitive to me that I had to mouse click on the buttons which were so far away from where I was trying to place the blueprint, but once I overcame that, it was all go. It would be nice if we had a keyboard binding ...

Re: Friday Facts #102 - Getting close
Regarding the Power switch. Looks cool and love the action, what would be really cool would be an 'electric arc' as it goes on/off. :) An observation and a question or two. I assume the active/neutral side can be either side. Does the switch have to be quite so big? Could it be more compact? Say com...

Re: Much better performance on lesser hardware (linux)
I was going to ask if you had frame sync enabled but the CPU usage sort of threw that, unless the CPU goes in a tight loop waiting for frame sync.
