Spidertron Example
My idea of what Spidertron should be. What do you think? - Spidertron MK1 - Description: An AI controlled or manually driven, water crossing spider vehicle with inserters for legs (As if you didn't already know that) equipped with a gun turret. Consumes fuel, has inventory, takes magazine ammo, prov...

Re: Weapon Durability
The sense to me is that it would add a well-fitting minor piece of complexity. For example, stockpiling a ton of minerals and oil and then clicking a make rocket button (and waiting for hours) wouldn't be very fun. The little intricacies all add up to make the game more fun, IMO.

Re: Bot Recall
I've ran into this issue even in vanilla. You could create another row of boxes for disabled bots and a roboport and / or circuit network option to auto-disable inserted / docked bots as well as a logistics summary page for each network similar to the power summary window (needed anyway to read stat...

Weapon Durability
Make weapons have a durability similar to heavy armor.
Factorio to me is about automation, and while assembling machines can automate weapon production, there is relatively zero actual need to do so.

Also trying to set a record for most pps ever. (pistols per second) Now that is what makes this game great! :) Once, I've made huge plant that converts wood into planks and then into wooden chests just to burn them ;) It wasn't efficient (chest cost is 2 raw wood but it has same fuel value as...

Trying to make the most pollution as possible. Aka clearing forests for miles, wasting energy etc.. I want to see how big of a pollution bubble I can get.

Re: Bot pathing for big bases
What I used to do is make what I called "Robo Antennas". Imagine a very wide U with roboports at the tip of both sides of the U. Bots pathing from one tip to the other would try to go straight across, run out of battery, and repeat. I would make a line of roboports coming up from the botto...

Re: Headless Linux Requirements
Thank you for the replies. CPU performance needs will be much higher than I thought it seems. I've decided on a Pentium G5600, as I think this is the best value for single core performance, while having 2 cores for system processes. Since this will be a dedicated box, I don't think more then 2 cores...

Ghosts subtract signal value
Simply make construction ghosts subtract their needs from affected logistics network signals. Laying down 500 inserters within a logistic network construction area with 750 inserters available will immediately reduce the inserter signal to 250. Laying down 500 inserters within a logistic network con...

Re: Headless Linux Requirements
Thanks Loewchen.
Would this be sufficient for 4-8 players on a moderately big map?
Intel NUC BOXNUC7CJYH1
Intel Celeron processor J4005
4GB DDR4 2400
Either a 120GB SATA SSD or 16GB USB3 flash.
Also, concerning autosave times.. Is it more CPU intensive or HDD?

Great minds think alike. :-) https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=194&t=48918 Cool! Back in 2017 even. I wondered if anyone else had tried it. I've built a switchboard of sorts, so that the decoders don't have to be built at each remote station. switchboard.png Here are some blueprints I...

How to serialize signals?
How do I remove all but one signal?
Like x=1, y=3, c=2 and output only x=1 until x has no signal, then output y=3 and so on in any order.
Is this doable? I know how to do it while specifying all possible signals, but would rather a small approach.

Headless Linux Requirements
What kind of system would I need to run a headless server on Linux? I couldn't find a requirements spec.
How much ram, cpu, etc.. Could it run on something as small as a Pi with save file stored on CIFS?
Thanks!

Windows Service Control Manager
Update factorio.exe so that it communicates with service control manager.
factorio can run as a service and works fine, however it will not communicate that it has started and will terminate after the timeout period.
Thanks for consideration.

Re: How-to: Two-way rails
I use a two way system with branches and one gargantuan loop, but that is just how I like to play. I spend a lot of time just trying stuff out or exploring for huge patches, my productivity certainly isn't anywhere near some of the bases I've seen on this forum. I prefer to have smaller bases, more ...

Transmit signal wirelessly over railway
The concept is to use the fact that trains can detect disabled rail station anywhere it can route in order to transmit a long range signal over the railway. Connect 1 or more pairs of rail segments to your extended railway. Multiple pairs can be used to send a binary number. The transmitter station ...
