Re: Planned: Fuel values on fluids and Hydrogen balance. Give opinions.

Crude Oil would have a value of 3.8MJ, except I don't want it to be usable as a fuel directly, so I'm not giving it a fuel value. Why not? It confuses people, as you've called it "Oil burning generator", but unlike the FlameThrower turrets, it can't burn crude oil ! (Which also, as you kn...

Re: Artillery too powerful even for late game?

Laser in a power armor with a couple of shield modules let you literally run through biter bases obliterating them where you walk. Well, up to a point in enemy concentration and evolution - after that you have to use a tank, and with a couple of discharge defenses so that you don't get stuck ! Wher...

All good! Only thing I don't like on this FFF is the name, ' Belt immunity'. Can we make better name for it? Like 'Smart boots', 'Hover shoes', etc,? Well I don't really serious about it anyway. Re: Aren't construction bots available too late?

The no oil nearby is a huge fallacy. Even assuming that you did not use the preview and don't already know where it is, unless you use some extreme ore generation setting/mod or biters settings, in which case you asked for it, there's always oil close enough. Ah sorry. My current game has indeed co...

Re: Aren't construction bots available too late?

Yeah, I don't think that I knew about that yet when doing the above... But wouldn't it be kind of problematic to do it where you don't have sight ? If you can afford to extend your roboport coverage so that you are building remotely... then you can use a small gadget like this one (derived from Mar...

Yeah, I don't think that I knew about that yet when doing the above... But wouldn't it be kind of problematic to do it where you don't have sight ? Yes, it is. But small holes in the radar coverage where you only need to go straight is no problem. No different from placing blueprints though. Yeah, ...

Re: Aren't construction bots available too late?

Construction Bots are not too early at all. My build order is basically Red & Green Science, A basic mall and then a bot facility. In my last no spoon run, I had bots up within 3:45mins. Now this can be done even faster as my Bot facility was 4 roboports away from my basic mall (caused by some ...

Re: Artillery too powerful even for late game?

Isn't it the point? It's the super-expensive (mostly to research?) "game-ending superweapon"...

(Until we get better... Rocket-Silo launched Nukes with unlimited range carrying Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Warheads please! :)
Then nerf artillery... maybe?)

Re: Friday Facts #256 - The little things 3

Please don't make me go backwards and use personal solar panels! They should make personal solar panels more useful so having them in the grid is worthwhile. I personally avoid all the armor equipment until I get the reactor since personal solar panels can't keep up with the demand except for maybe...

Re: Friday Facts #256 - The little things 3

Yay! A small detail though : there will be a lot of cringing among the more obsessive-compulsive of us if the Belt Immunity Equipment is only 1x1 ! (the only thing that we are going to be able to put in the remaining spot in the 10x10 Power Armor Mk2 will be a pretty useless Solar Panel!) I suggest ...

Re: Always use 3 s.f. when showing shortened numbers

I don't see any reason to go beyond 3 significant figures in the production screen, certainly not enough to justify developer time on another option The problem with 2 significant figures is that for a value of 1.0k, it's somewhere between 1000 and 1099. That is a 9.9% uncertainty. (9.999% if the v...

Re: Aren't construction bots available too late?

Good observation. If asked I would (general principle and feel is the same, and it's low tech as well). I think I did not considered it when I said 2 to 3 times slower. I'm personally a very bad driver and can't take significant advantage of it, but I assume it's potentially massive, further nullif...
