Re: Is this efficient
I happen to like this solar array .. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2052155670 One thing to remember is, you want a minimal number of Roboports, because they only have two purposes : construction, and logistics network connection to permit construction of further away solar f...

Re: Is it time to give the pistol the steel axe treatment
I kind of agree about nixing the pistol. That said, there is one mod out there that uses it as part of the Military Research pack. If scrapping the Pistol is not an option, perhaps replacing the Piercing Ammo with the Pistol would at least give a reason to automate Pistol production? As it is, right...

Re: Automate Train requests
That idea calls for a few modifications to what Iād posted above. This is mainly because, I believe, you need positive numbers going to the Filter Inserters to make them work. Instead of wiring the chests to the train station, wire them to an Arithmetic Combinator. That AC should be set for Everythi...

A belt of Rocket Silos would certainly be an interesting addition to your bus!

Re: Automate Train requests
Ok. The easiest way I know of to set this up is a little bit complicated, but it works. Iāve done this for defense trains, and for nuclear building trains. Basically, what Iām suggesting is trains dedicated to carrying everything these outposts may need, that are kept at your main base until the out...

Re: Coal Liquefication - how does it work?
I personally find that Basic Oil Processing (duh) and Advanced Oil Processing both produce too little Heavy Oil for my Lubrication wants/desires. To meet the Lube demand, I will set up Coal Liquifaction. As I said in an earlier post, I put the Refineries far enough apart that I can run a line for HO...

Re: Coal Liquefication - how does it work?
I tend to put the Refineries far enough apart that I simply have a pipe wrap around the Refinery to send created HO back to the HO input. I also do not start turning HO into Lube, or LO, unless I have more than a few k HO in the collections tank. This ensures that there is enough remaining to restar...

Re: Miner Depots, and the best way to empty them
I had combined that mod with the other good one of the set, Transportation Drones.
I used Miniloaders to move the goods from the Mining Depot to the Supply Depot. I donāt know if its faster or slower than using three Stack Inserters, but it worked for me.

Re: Radar range
After a while, you will see that your Radars are re-scanning sectors that have already been uncovered. If you are looking for, and not finding, a specific resource within the revealed area, this is your clue to go and spread some more radars around to reveal a larger area. Alternatively, just load u...

Re: Isnt Factorio for Casual Players? Help with some tips
ALWAYS PUT 4, PRODUCTIVITY 3 MODULES IN YOUR ROCKET SILO. Hand craft them if you have to. This will reduce the number of parts for the rocket by 40% which is huge when you consider that you would other wise need 1000 each of Light Weight Structures, Rocket Fuel and Rocket Control units. Which are a...

Re: I need help with signals in my base
Not really what you want to hear, Iām sure, but you should consider switching to a two-track system, rather than using the one-track system. Two one-way tracks allow for a lot more traffic on the rail system, including for two trains traveling in opposite directions to get past one another. One two-...

Re: How to optimize railsetup
IIRC trains choose their routes based on āpercieved distancesā, and it measures that percieved distance based on the number of signals (rail and chain) it must pass, picking the shortest distance. Things like trains occupying a station add a certain amount of weight, or āpercieved distanceā to the c...

Ok. Some screenshots, now that I'm home from work. All of these were at the *very* beginning of the game, no mods. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2027698114 Here you can see one Steam Engine, with a box of coal feeding its boiler. 0/960 kW produced. https://steamcommunity.com...

Re: Steam Engines = 960 kW?
1 - absolutely no mods. 2 - steam engine was alone on the electrical network. I have not made (nor even researched yet) Solar Power in either game I looked at last night or today. 3 - just double checked, 960 kW. This is very very strange. To see that 960 I moved one power pole in the corner of the ...

[0.18.14] Single steam engine shows 960kW available power
I like how with the latest patch you can see the maximum available power production. But I noticed something in one of my modded games ... the Steam Engine array I had set up (a pair of āstandard 1/20/40 arrays on both sides of the belt, for 2/40/80 units in total) was telling me those 80 Steam Engi...

What you *can* do and what you *should* do are not always the same choices among your options. You *can* make a giant roboport network that covers your entire base. That does not mean that you *should*. If you choose to do so anyway, then you are choosing to accept the āMINUTESā wait you complained...

Re: Prioritize personal roboport construction bots?
I honestly sounds to me like there might be a faulty approach to building your base, TC. Bots really shine over small, discrete networks. It sounds as though you have one big network covering your entire base? Thatās what the complaint about it taking, as you put it, āMINUTESā tells me anyway. After...
