Re: Multiplayer Testserver 0.12 [Dedicated/headless]
I managed to get on the server by connecting directly after the server started. However, every other minute the game would stop, show the message Following peers are not responding: unknown username and then continue after a few seconds. Then I disconnected and wanted to reconnect 5 minutes later, n...

Re: Multiplayer Testserver 0.12 [Dedicated/headless]
It seems that SamSam is right. When I connect right now, I get the following error: http://puu.sh/j3AqL/068d275d02.jpg The IP listed is not the IP of the server, so it seems that the peer who hosts the game is switching from the dedicated server to another player that can't be reached on port 34197....

Re: [0.12.0] Inserters not grabbing from tile offset
This is the intended behavior. Changes Items on transport belts don't go off the belt at the end, so the transport belt has to go directly in front of the required inserter. Since the belt doesn't put the item in the next tile anymore, the inserter is also able to grab all the items on the belt and ...

Re: How many habits did you have to break with 0.12?
When inserting in 0.11.x: On a belt going north-south, the item always goes to the left side On a belt going east-west, the item always goes to the upper side With 0.12 the item goes to the inserters right side. An inserter putting an item down (in south direction): the item will end up on the left ...

[Public/Europe] Dedicated Server
Offline. Permanently.
Back then the Idea was to provide a server to be able to test your connectivity and try out some Factorio multiplayer but with the 0.13 release multiplayer has been made easily available for everyone which makes this server obsolete.

Re: Game runs on toolbar but won't open
The Technical Help FAQ has you covered: Q: Game starts minimised and there is no way to bring it to front. A: 1. Turn off second monitor. 2. Try to use the task manager to bring the program to front. 3. Taken from: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3322&p=26321#p26321 : 1) Open Factorio. 2) Mouse over the...

[0.11.22] [Rseding91] Technology window behaviour inconsistent
This is not really a bug, it's more of an inconsistence/nuisance while playing. I've noticed it long ago but never bothered to report it. When you manually open the technology screen by pressing T, the complete game including the sidebar on the right are darkened so that the technology window feels ...

Re: Logistic network logic - attempt at beltless base.
I once did a playthrough with my own rule "not allowed to put even one belt down". Was pretty interesting and actually not as hard as I first thought. Even after you have your first robots you still need to carry a lot of stuff around, because you don't instantly have 1000+ robots. You sho...

Re: A lovely autosave
This is really spectacular, I will use it :) I wonder... if the replay is robust enough, how hard would it be to detect when a player is run over by a train, and then "synthesize" an autosave a few frames prior to the accident? :D If I correctly understand how replays work then you can on...

I totally overlooked that you posted this in Ideas and Suggestions because to me this didn't look like an idea but rather a gameplay/technical question or general discussion. The problem of your post was that there is no actual Idea in there, you phrased it like "does anybody have an idea?"...

Re: "you need a better tool to mine this"
I've only seen it in modded games. The Dytech mod has ores (e.g. Crystal Formation) that have a higher "Mining hardness" than the vanilla ores and if you try to mine them by hand, this message is shown. You also can only place mining drills there that have a mining power that is higher tha...

Re: max resolution for screenshots
Seems like it's taking a screenshot on 1:1 zoom, a very interesting function. On my laptop it worked up to 4096x4096px (22MB png), with 8192x8192px it crashed. I think it tries to save the image raw before compression and fails at some memory limit. It could either be a hard limit depending on the e...

Re: factorio launcher / different game instances
You can download the zip-version and extract them to different directories. All of the changes you make (saves/mods/config) will only be stored in the respective directory. For easy access you can make shortcuts on the desktop/startmenu for every different zip-installation. Once you've done that, yo...

Re: Free multiplayer?
I don't think that a raspberry would be able to run Factorio, because it requires (1) being built for ARM, which it currently isn't (2) lots of dedicated video ram (512MB+), which the raspberry doesn't have I only own a raspberry B (first generation) that has a max GPU allocation of 128MB. I've hear...
