First time I read it I thought it only applied to blue splitters, but that is actually not explicitly mentioned.

Re: Circuit network connections for splitters

How cool would it be being able to send the resources you need at the time you need it, I’m surprised the devs didn’t think of this feature as well and implement it at the same time as the configuration options, I hope they do That was what I was doing with the old splitters and a lot of circuit ne...

Can we add (#224) to the title? Such that the context does not get lost.

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

Splitter filters are actually not a new thing. There was some designs that do that before, e.g. https://forums.factorio.com/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=19114&start=10#p122988 They are hard to use though and they take too much space so it is a welcomed change. Those were broken in the last update w...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

The difficult challenge here is to make changes in a way that the interaction between belts and logistic bots becomes at least just as interesting as the interaction between trains and belts or between trains and bots. The belts and bots are competing in the same space and belts have nothing to go u...

Re: Circuit network connections for splitters

I strongly agree. It also would fit the mindset from the FFF of increasing control in the late game: This is why we decided to add a few options to splitter configuration. These might be perceived overpowered by some, but we believe, that these mainly solve problems in the later part of the game whe...

Re: Friday Facts #225 - Bots versus belts (part 2)

Twinsen certainly trolled the community with success. Well played :) I like the new splitter, it looks interesting and it certainly makes more sense than the old one. The old one still allowed some esoteric use cases that seem hard to do with this one. Hopefully the new filter can be circuit control...

Except the opportunity cost problem. Backed up belts prevent you from spending those resources elsewhere in the factory.

Re: [POLL] Get the splitters back to original state

really like ratio of red to yellow conveyors, 1 to 2 seems perfect. But the same block with blue and red conveyors doesn't seems so perfect, it will be 2 to 3 and two red belts will be not full when you feed them with only one blue belt. Indeed. The throughput ratios are 13.33 for yellow, 26.67 for...

@BlakeMW that would be circular. Military science requires piercing rounds as an ingredient. It would require a recipe overhaul and will invalidate all existing factories.

I think the false positives of using the edit distance may be even less intuitive than the current search pattern, although it will strongly depend on the number of edit operations you allow.

Re: Belts vs Bots - A response to the latest FFF

That sounds like a nail in the coffin for belts to me. Currently you need to rely on belt weaving to be able to have the same amount of beacons and the choice clearly goes to bots for many megabase players. With this setup, it would effectively half the amount of beacons you can have when using belt...

For example, it is pretty great for matching camelcased identifiers (by just typing the capital letters).

If beacon range is four tiles then you can fit another beacon in. I have not tried any designs, but I suspect it will lead to beacon builds with less space instead of more.

I dislike these polls as well. They are not constructive, it gives no insight into why a change would be good or bad it just measures emotion.

Re: Friday Facts #224 - Bots versus belts

If I understand the arguments of the megabase players correctly, then a major problem of belts in the late game is that in beacon layouts the belts are lacking in throughput. How would a loader solve this? The belt throughput limit is still the same and space requirements are not affected either. It...

Sadly (and happily?!) a new patch (0.16.16) arrived 9 hours ago. I loaded up my savegame of splitter sorters and they all broke. :( RIP Yep, this feature was intentionally removed. Probably for the better, but let us take a moment of silence for the loss of this awesome art of old-school splitter s...
