There's already 7 flavors of science and the last few colors are basically empty. You don't need more tiers, they just need to be spaced out a bit better. Good point about size of turns. I come from a country with right lane car driving, so its easier for me to discuss it as RHD fr trains and left turns :) A also see your logic there in blocked lanes counting. Since Factorio wants your signals on the right side of the track, using right-lane structur...

Amount of resources is not limited You've never mined an entire iron patch? I mean, maybe this is just an experience issue. I only have 200 hours in-game, but I've sure as hell stripped multiple iron patches down to the bare dirt and had to go hunting for more. And that process is no less difficult...

The idea comes from traffic optimization strategy, that forbids direct left turn at crossing, instead forcing you to turn right and make a U-turn, if you want to go left.
