Re: My first factory
Yeah I compressed it a bit to still be not too big. I'll try progressive next time though, or maybe I'll just leave full res a PNG. This one was progressive. I almost gave up before the actual image quality arrived. It adds considerably to the size while it doesn't really give anything in exchange,...

Re: My first factory
You might achieve better jpeg size if you make it "non-progressive" "progressive" JPEGs contain more images, ranging from crap-quality to actual quality. With the current connection I was looking at the crap-image for quite a while, thinking "wait... that cannot be it...&qu...

Re: My first factory
EDIT: On the quest to produce 1 iron chest full of every items, I'm about 75% the way in terms of factories. But I've done all the most expensive items resource wise first. Lots of the chests for these items are full, and it cost me a third of my stored resources. About 1mil copper/iron each so far ...

Re: My first factory
Slowly filling up the game with new factories. This times its ammo and electric poles! I'm pretty happy how the spacing turned out. I only have a few more of the main production lines to complete then I will create a little area for the not so common items, eg train gear, pumps pipes, cars, etc. FUL...

Re: My first factory
now a have a ridicoulus amount of ore all around me and i dont think i will need them..could probably store/produce 100k+++ of EVERY item. but i wonder how much content/items will be added in the future and how much resources one will need for a really big factory. therefore - doing it the same way...

Re: My first factory
Revised how belts/underground belts come out.
Decided it was a bit silly that I wanted every single item taking up a whole belt to themselves.

Re: My first factory
Redone furnace area, It's actually slightly smaller then before but I don't actually need any larger, with such a huge stockpile of smelted resources I could never outpace the constant smelting with fabrication. Unless I were to build lots of high res items constantly over a very long time. But the ...

Re: Effective Power Generation
Nice work, I was thinking of doing this eventually but never got around to it. My last steam setup used 26 engines and 3 pumps, I just tweaked it to those levels during gameplay and seeing how it was going. I don't remember how many boilers I had though. This sort of information would be good to com...

Re: Best looking defence.
Cool. I've always thought about experimenting with this, more specifically just outside my walls with belts facing out. I wonder.. if you put belts right next to turrets and a creeper gets to it can they attack it? or are they pushed away the second they stop moving to attack? Man this game is great...

Re: My first factory
Found my new fav way of making belts. Can be expanded as needed, and you can use your own method of power poles/subs. Main thing is to have a cog supply fast enough, possibly using 2 supplies 1 for yellow and red and blue gets its own for the massive 15 cogs per belt. http://www.aza-industries.net/a...

Re: My first factory
Starting rebuilding factory, it's been a while and I've forgotten the golden ratios of item fabrication. Testing out various production levels of different items to try and get a smooth running system that won't slow down under continuous construction as belts empty out. I'm going to separate the co...

Re: Item capacitor (pic)
I am not sure how fast the express belt is. Regular belt needs 2.5 fast inserters to fill one lane (or 2 fast + regular) Fast belts need 5 to fill a lane I expect express to need 10 per lane (well, provided it has no turns which I expect to degrade it's performance to Fast) Maybe 5 seems enough bec...

Re: Item capacitor (pic)
I realized that I need to build a "Capacitor" that would allow me to supply my power plants with little coal over long periods of time (charging) and supplying it all at once. It resulted in a nicely matching shape :) I failed getting it displayed as a whole, without scrollbar :( What I l...

PS: I also needed a device with a similar functionality, so I built an "item capacitor" https://forums.factorio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=745 Same concept except you can split up the 2 end and have tons of storage between. So you do the same thing with inserters facing the other w...
