Am I really the only person who thinks traps in challenges like this are not only fair, but expected?
Well obviously the devs thought that. But they also liked that ugly concrete. :D

Also it's absolutely unobvious that loader must be feeded by belts, not arms.
Hopefully when the loaders have proper graphics that will help make this clear.

Re: Game Sounds, LaserT, Worms and Alert

While lasers themselves may be silent, anything that uses 2.4 megawatts(!) of power is bound to make some noise. I would suggest at minimum some kind of electrical hum, and perhaps a sizzling sound suggestive of burning at the target.

Re: Simple Questions and Short Answers

I have not played with it enough to know how to save the toolbelt from one game to the next, but you’re supposed to be able to do exactly that. This enables you to set it in one game, and then not have to set it again. That’s also why there are 10 rows in the toolbelt, two of which are active. I do...

[0.17.2] Favorite button on server list... acts weird

Not sure how to describe it concisely, so here's an example. I have one favorite, I try to select another, and then somehow I end up with three servers favorited. Favorite.jpg Removing the favorite from either the Railworld or PVP servers unfavorites both of them. Might be related to this bug report...

I play vanilla. I personally feel that a game should be desirable to play sans mods.
Don't worry, it is.

Better with mods though.

Me too. Also using zipped version (64 bit) on Windows 7. Starting to sound like a pattern.

[wheybags][0.17.0] Using Reset zoom level before a cutscene makes them "fight"

I know "Reset Zoom Level" is considered a debug command, but I use it frequently because I often want to zoom out, look around, and then return to 100% zoom level. Anyway, I happened to do this just before triggering a cutscene in the new campaign and it caused the zoom level to "vibr...

[0.17.0] Top-right tool tip cut off without minimap

Playing the new Introduction campaign, I noticed that the top-right tooltip window is cut off on the right edge. This problem goes away once you unlock the minimap, however. Screenshot attached.

Re: Friday Facts #278 - The new quickbar

Someone on reddit suggested that a better implementation for the ghost cursor thing then having it off by default or activate when you research bots would be to require holding shift, same as when you place ghosts from a real item. If you attempted to place it without shift you'd just get the error ...

Re: Did no one else notice massive nerf of tank in 0.17?

I guess I can agree that the tank machine gun was a little too strong, but I think its other weapons are too weak. The cannon is slow as hell. And the flamethrower is just... I don't even know what it's for. Why doesn't it set things on fire like personal and turret flamethrowers do? It's downright ...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

A few random thoughts: I would be against adding pipes to green science. Thinking back to when I first started playing, it already felt like a significant difficulty increase over red science that its two ingredients were each made from multiple parts themselves. Adding a third ingredient seems unne...

Allow Drop command (Z) to insert into buildings

TL;DR When holding an item and hovering over a building, pressing Z could insert one item (if it fits). What ? Currently we have shortcuts for inserting half a stack (Ctrl+RMB) or a full stack (Ctrl+LMB), but inserting individual or few items requires opening the regular interface. Since there's al...

Re: feedback: train signals are hard

This is just a quick mockup of an idea I had regarding one and two-way tracks. Signals.jpg This would only appear when you hovered over a signal (so the highlights on both tracks wouldn't be visible at the same time, I just combined them in one image). Anyway, it would show which direction the signa...

Re: Buy direct, GoG, or Steam?

The only advantage of steam for Factorio is that *if* you play multiplayer, by the next version of Factorio (Dec?) It will be much easier to host games if you are on Steam. Don't see how it can be "much" easier when it's dead easy already. (I've heard some people have difficulties, for wh...

Re: Friday Facts #262 - Hello my name is: Compilatron

Well, the NPE *may* also feature some sort of limited freeplay (for demo users) so you might not have to leave if you dont want. You can live with Compilatron for as many hours as you wish. I just wanna say, I think adding a taste of Freeplay to the demo would be a great move. I came pretty close t...

Re: Friday Facts #261 - Performance + New player interaction

Just wanted to add my two cents regarding the tutorial. I think in general you're moving in the right direction by letting people discover more of it for themselves, because the choppiness of having all the tips pop-ups definitely cut into my enjoyment when I played the demo. But on the other hand, ...
