Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes
Yep, armor grids need a resize (regardless of whether there will be more 1x1-sized equipment). And personal solar is indeed too weak to be usefull for powering personal roboports (it is fine for night vision, an exosceleton or a shield though). An idea for improving QoL considerably would be to make...

Re: What about a subscription model for Factorio starting with 0.18?
My idea is you pay for the subscription only if you want to enjoy the regular updates. Without these you can play the game into eternity “for free” - actually for the price you pay for the game on the day “it is”. Mod authors will keep getting bug reports for all game versions they ever made their ...

Re: Better Demo
It's a comment that doesn't contribute much: You stated, that a group of players is not in the target audience. I then stated the obvious: That they are trying to include that groupp. As neither you nor i am part of Wube, we are both only speculating and stating opinions. First, I'm pretty sure tha...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes
Me too likes the new facts. I would like having construction bots before petrochem and would drop the packs for directly feeding much more ingredients to specialized labs. But early bots work just fine for me and the science tree i will probably mod myself anyway - if i ever get enough spare time to...

Re: Friday Facts #266 - Cleanup of mechanics
Regarding current mod player base calculations, i suggest using the highest download for any version of a mod to more accurately represent the actual player base. There obviously is an error in that as well - as can be seen by comparing Bob's library mod to Bob's mining mod (wich depends on the libr...

Re: Better Demo
We find that the Freeplay portion of the game is already enjoyable to its target audience, but those who prefer a more guided experience- aren't in the target audience. Looks like they want to expand the target audience to include people who need the game to provide clear goals and a less steep lea...

So, click on the net you want to extend into this gap, say the water on the right and then drag it into the gap, the water net extends and does not connect to the light oil net. Then build the pipe south, build the light oil pipe also south by dragging from its end to tell the game which net you're...

Re: What about a subscription model for Factorio starting with 0.18?
I would give a good hard and sober look to consider changing Factorio from 0.18 to a subscription sales model where anybody having bought the game already owns it & could play the game as is without restriction infinite - but annual subscribers only will get future updates. Kovarex in the Price...

Re: Factorio Roadmap for 0.17 & 0.18
Hey did you guys realize that releases become bigger feature wise, but also less often? Seems to be hard to cut graphics engine rewrites into smaller pieces. An almost complete GUI rewrite is also nothing small and they probably don't want to release the new campaign piece by piece too (also it wil...

Re: Friday Facts #273 - Cutscene controller & Localisation plan
As soon, as malicious intent is considered, you have to think about more esotheric stuff, only a griefer would do: I'm starting to worry about you. You keep arguing against making the modding API at least consider ill side effects and you come up with all sorts of ways to harass players in creative...

Re: Friday Facts #274 - New fluid system 2
I don't know what you guys screwed up, but I'm noticing a distinct lack of complaints in the replies so it must be something HUGE. The complainers are still fully occupied with the axe axing thread... ;) The new fluid logic is implementing The Yeast's model, wich brings exactly the right amount of ...

Will we be able to build (initially empty) pipes for different liquids side by side without having to leave a one-tile gap between them and can we prevent them from merging in case one of them ever gets empty?

Re: Factorio Roadmap for 0.17 & 0.18
FFF#266 dates from October, so I think it's further behind than that. I am quite surprised that you are constantly complaining about the same thing since more than a month then. Combined with your style, i would expect people to start getting a little fed up, since most people will just not get, th...

Re: Factorio Roadmap for 0.17 & 0.18
The post on the roadmap thread was not to make the developers aware of these discussions, it was to make the players who don't have time to read everything else aware of the axe removal, which is not mentioned in the OP. You are right on the roadmap issue - a lot has changed since November and they...

Re: [0.16.51] Oil Refinery flame animation
I've just noticed - the flame animation is stricktly binded to electricity provision. So, if refinery has 50% of power - the flame animation will be slowed at half. I think the flame should always burn at full speed, without energy influence. It's just a flame, after all :) Yes, would be nice to no...

Yes, the famous train collider. That was a nice bug.theolderbeholder wrote: ↑Wed Dec 19, 2018 6:23 pmAnd then there was this ... incident ... with the trains back in 16.3x. That might have been a bug, though.
But they fixed it real quick, so i accidentally skipped the update and never experienced it myself.

Re: Factorio Roadmap for 0.17 & 0.18
With its removal, Wube has crossed a line from mere insanity to totalitarian censorship. Merging of multiple threads about the same feature or bug is common here. Nothing special about that. Koub does a good job untangling mixed threads and combining redundant threads about an issue into one one al...

Re: Friday Facts #273 - Cutscene controller & Localisation plan
This way, there is no way for a modder to use the feature to harass a player who has it turned off except, possibly, by social engineering dialogue or readme files to get the player to turn it off, and I don't think anyone dumb enough to fall for that is playing Factorio. As soon, as malicious inte...
