Re: Saying Hello and a feedback question

It would not break anything, if we could assign a lane of our choosing, It would streamline base design and eliminate some weird belt stunts in order to get our items onto the lane we want. make them pick the further lane by default but give us the option to choose otherwise if needed. I mean serio...

Re: Is "Lazy Bastard" appropriate?

Okay, looks like a decision has been reached, with three major points:
  • People don't care a lot about bad words.
  • People really like the current name.
  • People from the U.S. (except Rseding91) are stupid.
Overall, it looks like a successful thread!

Re: Train unloading unbalances [bug_not solved]

Please don't attach 15.42 MiB screenshot. Please don't use mobile data to browse factorio forums. Actually, turn images off if you're concerned about data rate or limits. There is no way you'll convince the Internet to stop posting stuff. Better to police it yourself. (Said as someone who lived for...

Re: Train unloading unbalances [bug_not solved]

Please don't attach 15.42 MiB screenshot. Please don't use mobile data to browse factorio forums. You know what? I used to never think size was a problem. I had ~120 down at my house. Then go somewhere with really, really bad wifi and try to use a laptop to browse the forums. At one place I'm commo...

Re: [15.x] Cannot get "Tech maniac" achievement.

Are you sure it's rank 1 of infinite research? That is, you have at least 1 level of every research that requires white science. So, for example, if you had a tech where levels 1-4 is red, green, blue, levels 5-7 is red, green, blue, purple, level 8 is red, green, purple, yellow, and levels 9-infin...

Re: [15.x] Cannot get "Tech maniac" achievement.

Sorry to highjack this thread.. Did not wanted to open a new one. I have a game on 15.34, full vanilla. I Have all the research done, the infinite research are at least on lvl 4. Some on lvl 9, however the achievement is not kicking in. Any idea? Are you sure it's rank 1 of infinite research? That ...

Re: Pull 4 lanes from an 8 bus

I don't know, but what I found interesting was that in your 4-lane design it would pull 2 half-compressed belts if there was no backpressure on either end.

Edit: Since your 8-lane design is just two of those stung together it would still only output 4 half-compressed belts (2 full belts).

Re: Friday Facts #205 - Teaching the things that everybody knows

Size for concreter is +/- on the keypad. For the passive provider/requester loop, see the Logistics Buffer Chest (FFF #203) , which is planned for 0.16 and I think is what you are looking for. To get rid of stuff forever, put it in a chest and shoot it. Thanks, yes the buffer chest seems to be the ...

Re: [kovarex] [15.33] Miner ghosts not on ore will still remove trees

That's interesting - this doesn't seem to happen in Grey goo mk. I. Perhaps that has to do with logic regarding the Recursive blueprints mod, or perhaps it had to do with an old version.

Re: [Request] Full base game tech tree in one big picture

The wiki has this image of the entire tech tree. https://wiki.factorio.com/images/thumb/Technology_tree.png/800px-Technology_tree.png That's from 0.14 and the one from this thread lol: I also found some comments for 0.14 basically saying it's not possible to layout the graph in a way where no lines...

Thanks!
0.16 will also help a lot, as they have belt optimizations planned, as well as some other various ones.

Hi I am very new to the game, bought it 2 weeks ago, and when i red this post i figured i share my experience on learning the game since i am in the middle of it :) So the thing mentioned with the tool tips certainly will help a lot, also what i struggle with is to find out which things are stackin...

Re: Is "Lazy Bastard" appropriate?

I see what you mean. The point you brought up about this being a cultural issue is a huge thing I overlooked (I'm from the US), so along with other people's opinions different cultures may have different views here, and these words may be used slightly different. The translations would be interesti...

Re: Is "Lazy Bastard" appropriate?

The world is full of those "bad" words. And not every sentence or phrase is unappropiate just because of one of these words. When i see some of my friends carrying 2 heavy items instead of going twice i might just call him a lazy bastard without meaning to do any harm. I think the discuss...

Re: Is "Lazy Bastard" appropriate?

I'm deeply convinced people should not censor themselves in the vocabulary they use to "protect" the younger's ears. I was a compulsive reader when I was a kid. I literally started reading the dictionary (up to 'M' letter) when I was like 8 iirc. Do you suggest that rude words should be r...

Is "Lazy Bastard" appropriate?

As the title says: is lazy bastard an appropriate name for an achievement? Here are a few things to think about: Most Factorio players are post-college age, so they don't have to worry about parents making them stop playing Factorio due to a somewhat bad word, but I have seen mention of Factorio pla...

Re: Defence/Turret Train

I apologize in advance for further derailing this topic. If they make it so that if you go off one side you come back on the other, that would be 2 million train tracks, or 500k iron, 1m million steel, and 1m million stone (5.5million iron + 1 million stone). I guess that may actually be feasible. ...

Re: Defence/Turret Train

Technically (I think) 3 satellites are required to calculate latitude and longitude and 4 are required to calculate height. Since Factorio doesn't have height, we could assume 3 would work. I can't verify the 12 figure, but that could be interesting as Factorio is (I believe) a 2,000,000 by 2,000,0...

Re: Defence/Turret Train

Could be necessary to launch at least 3 satellites to have gps. GPS requires a minimum of 4 satellites to calculate positions. To cover the globe at least 12? (not entirely sure there) satellites are required. Technically (I think) 3 satellites are required to calculate latitude and longitude and 4...
