Re: Steel vs Electric Furnaces?
In 0.15 you are forced to make electric furnaces for production science packs so that's as good a time as any to also start using them for smelting if you haven't switched over to electric already. if you have to make thousands of them anyway, why not use them for smelting too?

Re: I want to mine the iron! Stop trying to mine the uranium!
If the line between the two ores is straight enough, you can move your miners so that there is no overlap. The picture you show looks fairly easy to fix, but other areas may be harder to work around.

Re: Where to put my main bus on new game
I'd leave two lanes worth of space every four lanes, so that you can easily use undergrounds to pull off your bus. Yeah you definitely want some spacing there. Always at least 2 spaces between. As a matter of personal preference I always separate belts that are different types, so I would have a tw...

Re: Power density 0.15 vs earlier
Oh, well one way or another they consume the fuel much faster now, so you'll have to setup more coal miners or solid fuel chem labs to keep these boilers happy. That was the point I was trying to make. The density of space used is just shifted from mostly just the boiler-engine setup to now include ...

Re: pumping water in trains
You need a pump beside the fluid wagon, in addition to the offshore pump at the water source.

Re: Power density 0.15 vs earlier
You use up more space providing fuel I think. The new boilers need more fuel and burn it at a penalized rate so you need more coal or solid fuel and that will take up more space elsewhere. Seems like a wash to me.

Re: Requester Chest...
By the time I was ready for a proper logistic system in my game I had up to blue science and yellow science, but no purple yet. Not sure why I did it that way, but my progress led me to make the high tech science (yellow) before attempting to setup the production science (purple). I wanted logistics...

Fluid tanks and tanker wagon
This is more of a nitpick than anything else, but I noticed that the new Fluid tanker train wagon has 3 separate tanks that each hold 25k units of fluid, which is the same amount as a single storage tank, but they are a lot smaller in size. The tanks on the fluid wagon appear to be roughly 2x2 in si...

Re: 0.15 boiler ratio?
On a related thing, the amount of coal used seem to have increased a lot? My burner inserters seem to work full time now. They use more, but I don't think much more than they did before. It's just that you only need 5 boilers for 10 engines now, when before you needed 14 so they single boiler is ch...

Re: 0.15.0—Boiler to Steam Engine Ratio??
The boiler is listed as having an effectivity of 0.5; this means that while it gets 1.8 MW of power from burning, it uses burnables at a rate of 3.6MW, or 1 coal / 2.22 seconds. At this rate, you need 9 (exactly) coal/second coming in to a single pump's power station, requiring (a little under) 18 ...

Re: Ask the devs: Future plans for biters/aliens/enemies?
From xterminator's twitch stream a dev said the radius is 35 tiles. That is big enough that it will be a challenge to not blow yourself up in the process. It means almost 260 to cover one square kilometer. Practically maybe around 100-150 if the area is filled with mature end game colonies. It does...

Rail signals at the red circle locations, all the rest are chain. Assuming of course there is room for full sized trains after each of those rail signals in the space not visible here. Left Junction fixed.jpg Better, but still not safe from the pathfinder. Though it's unlikely that the deadlocks ca...

Why not? Same design, just doubled. Now I'm more awake I've replaced a few chain signals that can be regular signals. Normally all those leading in to the junction can be regular however there are two that are still an exit from the previous junction so they remain chains. Left Junction.jpg H4sIAAA...

Re: Help - I can't find any oil on my map!
You should have access to grenades, poison capsules and defender capsules with only red and green science, all of which can be used in a run in and out attack style. It may take a while, but poison capsules will eventually kill those worms while you wait out of reach. Set up some turrets just out of...
