Re: Version 0.15.11

Tanks won't fill all the way if they are in the steam flow path as opposed to alongside it. 1.) Yea, that seems to be what I was experiencing, is there any reason to this? 2.) if you use pumps in the right way, they will still fill up to 100% even if they are in the steam flow path. :P It's just th...

Re: Version 0.15.12

Let me ask this: do you think there should be any limit at all on blueprint size? From the way this discussion is going it looks like we're headed to a place where you can start up a game and plop down a single blueprint for your entire factory and then say "Eureka! I did it!" and be done...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

That was a VERY valid thing to say. You like defending stuff. But apparently you dont like suggesting it. Why dont you open a feature request instead of this discussion here? Maybe you know deep down it wouldnt do any good for your will. At this stage it is not necessary to discuss this farther in ...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

So I think the boiler shall change 1 water -> 2 steam, then introduce a new item called Compressor, which can change 2 steam -> 1 water in 100 degree C. I remember that in real power plant, there are several stage of heating and compressing to increase the overall efficiency (I forget the details h...

Re: Version 0.15.12

boy, lots of people bitching about the blueprint from map view thing. in my opinion you shouldn't even be able to lay a blueprint in that mode. feels like cheating. get off your ass, get over there and lay it yourself. lol  However it's about fun factor. Increasing enjoyment while minimi...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

Where, anywhere in this whole thread, did I say, or even hint at, that the recipe should not require steam (= water above 100°)?! I did not! What I did say though, frequently, and what everyone is outright ignoring, is the fact that it should not be necessary to have a separate fluid for that! The ...

Re: Version 0.15.12

I think in this case explanation will lead to a huge discussion which will be harmful in many ways. So the smart decision was just to say - deal with it. Short and uncompromising. Most devs use the latest methodology for the most of decisions they make. Wube guys use that as a last resort. But I do...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

And as i said, we dont have the attribute for that. There is "Heat" on all fluids, how is that not enough to distinguish water from steam, for all it's worth in Factorio?! So seperating water and steam, is a good and easy way to come near reality How is there any intention to get this &qu...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

From a games perspective, the temperature is the only meaningful difference between water and steam. From a games perspective, having to change steam into a separate fluid for the sole purpose of being able to define it as an ingredient in a recipe, only shows that the game lacks the means to prope...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

So we actually need special pipes to handle steam as it comes in Factorio, as the standard water pipes won't do, right? :D It would be too complicated for most players in vanilla game. However, I have thought that for example Bob's mods, which have more than 10 different tubes, could use different ...

Re: Version 0.15.12

...well, if you can't explain something in simple words, you don't understand it well enough. I know, just look at Einstein's leaflet on General Relativity and Hawking's Uncertainty Principle haiku. Just because you don't understand why someone did something, doesn't mean they're dumb and hateful. ...

Re: Version 0.15.12

It's at least the third time you are highlighting that all of that is intentional. Well we don't accidentally commit code... ... mostly :P So, what was it this time? Zooming with the mousewheel in the map and zoom-to-world is less aggresive. I feel like this did not changed the initial problem of h...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

Bottom line: - water and steam ARE the same thing, H20 I just want to say, Diamond and graphite are the same thing, C. But of course we know they are different. I dont know if we can turn coal to oil in the real life, but i think using steam is make sense because steam is chemically more active tha...

Re: Version 0.15.11

Actually tanks not filling up with big energy consumption makes sense, and I fail to see how adding pumps helps there. Let's say that nuclear reaction starts when tanks are at 50%, and one reaction fills them by 80%. 50% + 80% = 130%, so they should be more then filled, right? Well, no, because if ...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

Yes that puts it nicely, though this design has a major advantage and drawback compared to a separate boiler + steam engine setup. + positive: you can use the storage tanks and steam turbines of the reactor setup and save tons of material and space - negative: you can never produce more than ~31% o...

Re: (0.15.10+) Water and Steam, what's the plan?

So you argue with physical properties in a game that totally ignores these? That is actually hillarious! In Factorio, 500° water/steam takes the same space as 15° water, or any other fluid, go tell the devs how dangerous that is! Not anymore dangerous then an actual nuclear reactor would be I recko...
