Re: connect circuits
Or, Instead of thinking as a train being associated to an output station, instead think of it being associated to an input station. By this, I mean, have the train stay at the input station until empty. No other conditions. Then have it go to an output stop name "Oil". You could have multi...

Re: 8-1-1-7 Refinary
When I start, I don't do any solid fuel production. I have a couple of Heavy > Lubricant Chemical Plants, filling one tank. No circuit conditions. When the tank is full, this processing stops. I have a ~5 heavy to light cracking, enabled when heavy oil > 20000. (only connected to one tank, even thou...

Re: Choosing train and track sizes
One thing he did was take all iron from south east of his base and all copper from south west. So if he found a great copper patch in the south east he ignored it. This kept the iron and copper ore trains from crossing paths and reducing congestion. Thanks Greybeard, thats actually quite clever, ye...

Re: Choosing train and track sizes
@Bulldog, (apologies everyone else for this becoming a 2 person chit chat thread - feel free to join in tho!) How are things progressing? I've ramped mine up a bit, and seem to be sustaining my 32 +670% labs continuously, whilst simultenously producing approx 2.5 rockets per min. Lots of tweaking on...

Re: I've had alls I can stands and I can stands no more
From what I've been reading in the FFFs lately (and perhaps some reading between the lines), there is a lot of work going on this exact area of "common sense and consistency" - so I wouldn't be surprised if there is at least some discussion on standardising colours of these items. Whether ...

Re: Coal or Solid Fuel
I don't tend to make solid fuel until I need it. When I need it, its for making Rocket Fuel. And typically by the time I have Rocket Fuel, I also have U235. So I normally jump straight from Coal, to Nuclear Fuel. But I think ultimately its up to you. Everyone does things differently, and it really c...

Re: Choosing train and track sizes
@zOldBulldog, heh, yeh, agreed. I also ran out of research in my starter base, weeks ago - although I don't have biters on, so never bothered with combat research, and instead just did mining productivity and robot speed. Having said that 2 days ago I doubled my labs (researching robot speed 13 at t...

Re: Rocket Fuel or Nuclear Fuel for trains?
By the time I have Rocket Fuel (launching rockets), I always have far too much U235, so I figure I may as well do nuclear fuel.
I prefer the extra acceleration, even if it doesn't last as long.

Re: Preview question
Are you running mods like RSO or Angels Infinite Ore or something?
I noticed the same thing on last game-start, but I put it down to the fact I'm now running mods.

Re: "Big power" options, low UPS hit
yup makes sense to resolve power shortages. But I did read unpowering parts of your factory will hurt UPS, according to Kovarex, so perhaps something to reconsider at some point.

From then on, I made sure I cranked up the frequency/richness settings of oil on every map I generated Yep, I always crank up the freq/richness of oil too. OP, good luck. zBulldogs instructions should help you find more. Another tip, you can use modules to extract more oil from the pumps you alread...

Re: Express train lanes?
Off topic: I wonder. Could we get a signal that mimics the station penalty but not act as a signal? Or a way to force a chain signal or rail signal to do the same via the circuit network. It sounds like it's possible to do in game. As for designating a "fast lane" you could abuse chain si...

Re: "Big power" options, low UPS hit
I'm curious at what GW nuclear becomes an issue as well. Current approach is just stick with nuclear until it becomes a problem, then worry about it then ;) Auto-shutdown: is that by switching power off? I thought that hurt UPS from what I read? Although, I assume you could disable a belt, and cause...

Re: LTN milk run how?
I haven't used LTN, although watched a video on it. Can you still use regular train stops, schedules, and trains, and just do it the "vanilla way", for these low volume scenarios? LTN's strength appears to be more for high volume, or complex many outputs to many inputs. I think once your b...

Re: How to kill large number of nests
In mid-game, I would try and quickly get Modular Armor, Personal Solar Panels, Battery Mk1, and Shields Mk1. Then I'd grab a flame thrower (weapon not turret), and some flame ammo, and just run around burning all the nests. Does massive damage, and can easily wipe a cluster out. Dash in, spray, dash...

Re: Best tutorials
Whilst I have several repeatedly used BPs saved, I find the main use I have for BPs, is simply to move something.
Create BP of area. Deconstruct. Place BP in new area. Wait for bots to build. Re-connect any affected input/outputs.
Cant wait for the Copy-Paste feature in 0.17!
