Re: Testbench for 3/4way intersections
So the problem is that if you switch between 4 way and 3 way you sometimes have trains spawned that are missing one direction and therefore nowhere to go. You can fix it by deleting the train that should be driving that isn't driving and then restarting the testbench. I had a fix for it but it made ...

Testbench for 3/4way intersections
Intersection test bench: What is it and why use it? It is a handy tool to create and evaluate your intersections, identify problems, and check for deadlocks. Now everything is controlled by the mod testbenchcontrols. There is a scenario in the mod for you to use. The newest version doesn't work wit...

I'll look into itKuniXl wrote: ↑Sat Dec 19, 2020 12:40 amDoes anyone update the pastebins? e.g. 2-lane compact righthanddrive links to https://pastebin.com/5kxDRK9r
Most of the blueprints are offline.

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]
Oh I see that changes everything, thanks. So I'll go ahead and ask another question, reading the few last pages I'm not to sure what I should do in my situation. If I want to build a very big train grid base (with classical 100x100 city blocks) with 1-4 trains (modded, train acceleration and speed ...

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]
The 4 lane intersection called "traditional" on the OP has a very high throughput for its size, compared to others that seem rather similar but have a lot less. Only the big buffered intersections have more. Can someone explain me why this one is so good, if it really is ? This junction d...

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]
Here is a version of the one just above that also fits in one chunk, the only difference ( i see ) is the spacing of the rails. (Edit: it also uses 4 less chain signals) It's not the same. The signaling isn't optimal, its missing 4 chain signals It prevents trains going at the same time if trains f...

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]
...however the 4 way intersection can only be signalled suboptimally (because of the lack of space to fit all the rails and all the signals). Challenge accepted https://pastebin.com/Jbp7qZ1Y 44 trains per min with random which is on par with other correctly made unbuffered 4 way intersections 4 way...

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]
I think the comment about 3-ways being better than 4-ways only applies when you either have no crossings in the 3 way or the majority of the trains will not cross a lane. So if your trains come from the left and go to the right it's better to put all the factories on one side of the track with 3-wa...

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]
I assume, that 4-way is still rather unneeded, and 3-way are king as they always have been? Where did you get that from and can you prove it? Oh no, don't get me wrong, I am not making any statements like that, I was genuiely curious. I overheard it on the forums somewhere a couple of years ago, I ...

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]
Yeah, definitely. Its just some things I want to get ready first. Like improving blueprints, making LHD ans RHD versions and I want an easier to use 3.x testbench which merges the manual and auto tester

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]
When working on some rails for a book, this intersection came to life. It's pretty similar to "TRADITIONAL" intersection. It has less space between lines, but losses some throughput on set 2. After some tests, these are the numbers I got: Set 1: 62 (15min) Set 2: 67 (15min) Which version ...

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]
If the longest trains you are using are 2-4 you need a 6 car clearance.

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]
Spent the last couple of days trying some new intersection designs that have a square space in the middle for a military outpost, is minimal in its approach, and has a throughput of more than 75/min. After testing I was able to get the following throughput numbers. 1 - 80 (15 min run) 2 - 85 (15 mi...

Re: 4-way intersections: Throughput and deadlocks [image heavy]
A 2 lane RHD 6-car intersection of size 4x4 chunks. I was unable to find any smaller with the matching throughput. I think the smallest one that matches this one in throughput is about 5x5 chunks. Last time I tested it was ~87/min. It would be nice to get it verified by someone else and included in...

Interesting.
That gives me an idea of how I can implement support for that without breaking it.

Nice, how did you deal with the mix of LHD and RHD on the test bench?
