Re: Preserving Factorio 1.0
You don't need to purchase a second copy. All you need to do to download the game from the website is link your Steam and Factorio accounts. This was already said almost verbatim just a couple posts up: You don't need to purchase another copy. You just link your steam account and your factorio acco...

Re: Friday Facts #386 - Vulcanus
Also, meh, would I want to void items in the lava when the alternative way to get more resources out of unwanted items exists: Recycler? Recycler isn't actually voiding, it's just breaking down with a high rate of loss. Plus we're not sure where in the tech tree it is, yet, and it's a part of the Q...

Re: GDPR removal request
Huh. Seems like an odd request to me. Especially seems they've gone back through and edited all of their previous posts to delete everything they said (despite not actually being able to delete all of it seems they were quoted many of the times). Seriously makes me wonder if an account got hacked......

Re: How do I see needed ingredients in the quickbar?
So I have these items in my quickbar that are grayed out because I don't have the materials to build them, when I hover over them it does not tell me what I need to make them, yet it does that in my inventory. Is there a setting [or mod] that will show me the required crafting materials/ingredients...

Re: Friday Facts #386 - Vulcanus
If you read ALL of the post, you CANNOT landfill lava. Lava is permanent. Which is good. Wrong. Ahem. Please read that first line, near the end. You might want to read your own screenshot again.... that you can't landfill (for a long time) That does not mean it is "permanent".

Re: Friday Facts #386 - Vulcanus
Also, I am unsure how I feel about the starting area on Vulcanus. Can we get an option not to generate a starting area on a new planet? I feel like having a starting area forces you to build everything in one spot and then just bring in resources from mining outposts…just like back at Nauvis. I wou...

Re: [1.1.94] Game crash
Your save file is most likely too large to upload here, so you'll need to upload elsewhere. I'm also unsure if the individual level.dat file on its own is useful to anyone. The log file you uploaded abruptly cuts off after 62.5 secs without logging an actual error. If this is a correct log, and the ...

i am no programmer just a game player but i have 16 gb memory is this not enough This game uses a lot more RAM than most other games. The more map you have explored, the more RAM it will use. As Meowmi was mentioning, you'll need to use options in your current mod set or dedicated mods for deleting...

Hey, this looks pretty good to me! Like the overall looks and feel. Like the fact that there are random fires in the lava and even the "trees" in the ashlands. Animated resources? Wow! And the fact now that you have biome specific resource generation is great! And there appears to be...

Re: Unexpected error occurred at game start
thanks for the help. I'm somewhat confused, as 12GB should be plenty according to the system requirements. But I'll check my memory usage next time the game crashes. If you tend to run a lot of things in the background and/or rarely reboot, these are possible reasons why you'd run out despite physi...

Re: HDR
If the game ran faster (ie: not using top end graphics), you wouldn't have to quit your game and start another one so soon. I also don't enjoy trying to figure out how to improve UPS so that I can continue playing my game (so I don't). There are all sorts of new challenges with larger bases that ar...

Re: HDR
I think that's a very reasonable generalization. I can't imagine playing the game without blueprints post-rocket launch. It seems like it would just be incredibly tedious and boring to plop down a building at a time. That's just me, of course, but I would imagine that most people are not playing Fa...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality
Your end goal, ultimately, will be making everything as Q5, anyway, so it's never going to be "worthless" I doubt this is a viable strategy. From my understanding, the way quality is designed, it's meant to be used only on a very limited part of the factory, where extreme optimisation is ...

Re: Friday Facts #375 - Quality
If you are, say filtering off, say, green and red circuits for making high grade modules, but it's early so you only expect +1 quality, but end up with some +2 or even +3 circuits. Would they be useless, or could you substitute them in? Up to you. Use them now, and sacrifice the extra level of qual...

And of course they wouldn't make random animations that would completely corrupt the game state, replays and multiplayer. Wiggling each arm slightly at random to stop them turning a corner in unison. Randomness is fine, as long as the same seed is used consistently. "Real" randomness is a...

Re: Friday Facts #384 - Combinators 2.0
I would like to have an option not only to select different outputs but also choose the channel (red or green) to output to . This seems pretty pointless. Why would you want this? If you don't want signals on green wire, just don't connect it. If you want other data on green wire than red wire, mak...

Re: Do not pause game when looking at research in single player
The more general solution would be to simply make pausing and unpausing a thing that you can do in this game. Currently you can pause only by going to the menu screen, but then you can't be looking at any other screens like research. A better interface would be if there were just a keybind to toggl...
