Will the normal version still work after Steam release?
I am curious if we will just recieve a Steam key or if the "normal" login with the Factorio Account will still work since I prefer some games off Steam.

Re: Why is there even a final goal
That is true, I haven't thought about it since for me sandbox games (like Minecraft) were designed for you to make your own goals and I always wondered why there was a final goal added.
You are right though - I saw many of those posts on forums of other sandbox games which are still in development.

Why is there even a final goal
After 34 hours of gameplay I started to wonder what the rocket defense would be for (I know I am not the fastest one). I found out that you "win" the game if you place it down and wait a few minutes, because you then get rescued from the planet. I always thought the goal is to survive the ...

Are the new icons a sign of a "bigger" GUI?
The new icons seem to have a higher resolution - maybe to be ready to be scaled up/down when people play the game in a higher/lower resolution than 1920x1080.
Also something like this would be possible then: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vie ... f=6&t=6996

Re: Option to scale up/down the GUI - Size of the GUI
How about the ability to move a whole gui window by grabbing the border on the sides as well as the top? This way, gui windows that spawn with the top off the screen can be moved to view all the parts of the gui window. Are you talking about something like this: https://forums.factorio.com/forum/vi...

Completly customizable GUI (with examples)
I always had this idea in mind while playing other games - no matter if they were sandbox games or shooters. Sadly the games always were already finnished or so close to completion that this idea was never added to the games. I am talking about a fully customizable GUI like it was recently introduce...

Re: Option to scale up/down the GUI - Size of the GUI
Of course it is a first world problem ssilk - but let's be honest - if you can play a game (which is new) in 1080p but the GUI is too small when you play it in this resolution - you can't tell me that you would play it in 800x600 just to be able to see the icons and be happy with it

Re: Option to scale up/down the GUI - Size of the GUI
For me the problem is not about reading the text (even though it does become much harder with the higher resolution) - my problem is that you can't record gameplay material and upload it to YouTube when you play in very high resolutions, because no one who watches it in a lower resolution or watches...

I found a mistake in the german translation.
If you hover the mouse over a water boiler it says "Tempratur" instead of "Temperatur" for temperature.

The maps are as big, as you computer can handle. :) When you generate a new map turn off the map limits... If we assume, that one tile is one meter size (https://forums.factorio.com/wiki/index.php?title=Tile ) and we also assume, that it takes - hm, I really guess (!) - about 10 bytes to store one ...

If they are finite I am a little bit sad since I will sooner or later hit the border of it when ressources are depleted in the center.

Re: Thank you (Make the dev-team happy today!)
I wouldn't mind if they would stop development right now since it is already perfect. But they are workin on it every day and to it with such a passion. It just gets perfecter (I know it is not correct, it should be "more perfect) every day. I wish them to sell more copies than Mojang ever sold...

As far as I can see the thread you linked only has train bridges listed not bridges you can walk over. https://forums.factorio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4806 What about straight bridges you can make out of different materials and which can have a span like underground pipes. Wooden bridges c...

I think once this idea is introduced people demand things on the surface to work the same and that would destroy the game for me.

Seasons
I just heard that some players think that solar power is overpowered. To make that problem a thing of the past I suggest adding seasons to the game which last around 30 ingame days and reduce the energy with which the sun does charge the panels from summer to winter. Also the seasons should differ i...

Re: Eclipses
Instead of eclipses I would suggest seasons which last 30 ingame days each and differ in the length of the days so in winter the day is so short that your batteries don't get charged enough to supply your factory with energy during the night. Additionally the sun doesn't have the power it has in sum...

Size of the GUI
I want to start recording Let's Play videos of Factorio and I would love to play it in 4K resolution (3840x2160). The only problem is, that the GUI becomes so small, that you can barely see anything when you watch it on YouTube on a lower resolution (it is fine for me playing the game though). There...
