Re: Version 1.1.83

As far as I can tell, this is a software limitation of the Steam Deck. The game natively supports the back buttons(paddles) on some controllers(such as Xbox Elite) but the Steam Deck input system doesn't support them. You can try editing the layout on the Steam Deck and notice that there's no way to...

Re: [1.1.84] Single drop coal into furnaces/drills dont work with double binds

To confirm, this change would mean that for my control settings (F to enter/exit vehicle, shift-F to pick up items, [Shift-]G to [horizontally-]flip blueprints) the shift-F would be the binding denied from being used for anything else then? shift-F will be allowed to be used for something else, but...

Re: Version 1.1.83

The game detecting the steam deck as Xbox is a known minor issues. Vast majority of Steam deck verified games actually show Xbox icons. As for the back buttons (L4, L5, R4, R5) not working, it appears Steam Input does not let me map them to "paddles", which are often extra buttons on a con...

Re: [1.1.84] Single drop coal into furnaces/drills dont work with double binds

The change actually fixes 2 bugs: - Flipping blueprints with F causes the player to also pick up items. - With controllers, decreasing the tile build area with dpad down causes the player to also pick up items. To keep speed-runners happy I reverted to the old behavior, for mouse and keyboard only, ...

Re: [Twinsen][1.1.83] Can't have same key bound to pick up items and enter-exit a vehicle

Thanks for the report. This should be fixed in Version: 1.1.85. Furthermore "Enter/leave vehicle" shortcut will no longer block other shortcuts unnecessarily, so it can now share a key combination with even more shortcuts. The behavior might be slightly different but it should work well fo...

Edit: Confirmed. That setting in Steam must be DISABLED for factorio to properly recognize the controller.
You can disable Steam Input for Factorio only so it's not disabled for all games. It should be disabled by default, perhaps it was enabled on your account manually at some point.

Re: Version 1.1.83

Yes, this brings controller support to PC versions. It's experimental so there might be problems. On Steam Deck you need to change the configuration to "Generic Gamepad" or "Gamepad with Mouse Trackpad". On PC, Steam Input should be disabled for the game by default. If it is enab...

Re: Nintendo Switch version feedback

First up a Super duper minor issue; The default keybind for Copy was SL, an inaccessible button when joycons are attached to the Switch. Solved because rebinding keybinds is simple, and also because Copy is accessible in Quick Panel. This is intended, optional quality of life shortcuts are bound to...

Re: Verified status for Steam Deck?

It's not dead, I'm working on it right now.
I realize it's taking a long time, there are many things to implement and test. The update will support multiple controller types on all platforms(not just Steam Deck), as well as take advantage(to some degree) of Steam Deck trackpads.

Re: [boskid][1.1.76] Any chances recovering this save?

These issues are so rare that they should not happen more than once in the lifetime of a Factorio player. If you have issues repeatedly something is really wrong with your hardware. Consider the following: - Running some memtests overnight - Running some CPU+GPU stress tests - Disabling XMP - Making...

Re: Nintendo Switch version feedback

I don't seem to have any issues toggling filters in cargo wagon or player inventory. The problem is likely that you re-binded some controls which caused some conflicts. When multiple things are bound to the same button combination the conflict is sometimes not obvious or not resolved correctly by th...

For those who have large save files that they can not load or save because of low memory ("std::bad_alloc"), please send them to me. Send me a PM and I will send you instructions on how to upload your Factorio save data to me. Generally from what I tested, running out of RAM should not rea...

Re: Nintendo Switch version feedback

std::bad_alloc You are indeed running out of RAM. You can gain a bit more memory by lowering the Sprite resolution in Graphics settings, which should allow you to load the save. Also be careful with how big your blueprint library is. Having some big books can add up. Finally, a game restart might h...

Re: [1.1.76][switch] cursor moves when opening a menu

Unfortunately I'm unable to watch the video so I don't understand the issue. It sounds like a controller drift issue? Maybe check for any issues and calibrate the controllers in the Nintendo Switch menu if needed. https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22340/~/how-to-calibr...

Re: [Twinsen][1.1.69][switch] Unsetting certain controls leave game mostly inaccessible

Thanks for the detailed report.

I consider this a minor issue. Most players should be aware and expect that un-assigning important keys will lead to problems.
Since there's always the possibility of resetting the settings(by restarting and using the touch screen), this is not a big problem.

Re: [Switch] Low FPS with GUI open

These are known issues and not much can be done about it unfortunately.
The character GUI has many slots, icons and numbers that when drawn take a long time. This is generally OK as a framerate of ~30FPS is enough for navigating GUIs.
