Re: [0.17] Sea Block Pack 0.3.6
Hello all, Been playing Factorio for a while on an off. I have hit a snag in my first sea block game. To research resin I need green science building For this I need a electronics circuit For the electronics circuit I need resin This after going back and fort through the in game fnei What have I mi...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
Well, as long as we're repeating the same suggestions forever and ever, allow me to "contribute" with one suggestion that hasn't been reposted in a while : BOP : (Crude) Oil => (Solid) Sulfur + Petroleum Gas (and perhaps no Sulfur from Petroleum Gas or make that recipe very inefficient) P...

Re: Friday Facts #306 - Experimental Demo
In the old campaign, "A New Hope" level 2 the player discovers a large base that has been decimated by biters. I remember that this was the level that my imagination really kicked into high gear. I think that without that glimpse into the future I might not have had the curiosity to conti...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
The "there are too many things on petroleum gas" point is really dangerous to change - if for example we would put sulfur into heavy oil, it could very easily happen that your refinery would deadlock because you only want to produce batteries/acid, say for mining uranium and laser turrets...

Re: Get rid of barrels and all barrel-related content
Barrels are pretty good for compact LTN stations for multiple fluids.
I use them f.e. for stations, which provide Angels petrochem fluids, like naphta, fuel oil, base mineral oil, acid gas, etc. in potentially one station.

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
A lot of issues related to oil wall would be solved if we had construction bots earlier. We could have construction bots earlier if electric engines didn't require lubricant. Why not just remove lubricant from electric engines recipe and maybe add it to other higher-level recipes instead? Or (as mu...

Re: Version 0.17.60
Researching AOP would still boost your Petroleum production. This is completely missing the point, which is that now there's no pressure to. You could sit around doing absolutely nothing for 20 minutes waiting for your production to back up and that would solve the petroleum shortage just as well. ...

Re: Friday Facts #306 - Experimental Demo
Second observation: I play with biters on low difficulty (no expansion or evolution), so I don't have much experience with biters before I get lazer turrets and artillery trains. I was trying to play as a new player without using my biter experience such as it is. So I found the task to get rid of ...

Re: Basic oil processing proposal (differential from 0.17.60): reintroduce light, sulfur from solid
output jams can only occur under situations of high plastic usage and low sulfur/fuel usage, which are rare (and effectively limited to mass module 1s, mass stack inserters, mass substations, or mass electric furnaces, while also NOT doing anything that uses fuel or sulfur in quantity). I read some...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
EDIT: Just for the record. I played with the idea below and I think, it does not add much. Actually, blue-science is like robot-science, just more. The shortcut itself does not help enough and it adds again more clutter, which, I'm convinced, was the goal to remove. What if engines, lubricant, con-b...

2) Make con bots not need lubricant somehow 3) Make Petroleum=>Solid Fuel far more efficient (I hate to suggest this, as it pretty much makes light oil worthless, but I dislike not having Heavy/Light oil to turn into fuel more so I think it'd go good with the .17.60 changes) Hmm, I already feared t...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
I have devised a new Oil method that is better than all the rest, except for the ones it's not better than. Change the Refinery to only 1 output, get rid of all the multiple output stuff. Change the name of "Basic Oil Processing" to "Initial Oil Processing". Change the recipe to...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
It seems to me there's some confusion here when speaking of what's tedious. What in setting up refineries is repetitive, unexciting, mind-numbing ? Placing pipes. And mainly, underground pipes. Because they need individual and precise mouse clicks rather than drags. Considering that, adding early c...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes
Just one additional idea:
If the BOP refinery must not have multiple outputs, maybe it can have multiple inputs.
f.e.: water like AOP
This would reduce the barrier to AOP a tiny bit and the player would learn multiple pipe connections. And it would look better as it looks so lonely at the moment
