Re: Should standing next to an active reactor harm player health?

oh I thought about that too, but no, that would be a waste of the devs time working on something as trivial as that. I also thought about the potential deleterious effects from Rotting biter corpses and Pollution... but thought better of it.

Re: [Poll] 0.17 Quickbar

I think the new quick bar is much better than the old one. I particularly like the way it sums the items in your inventory now.

Re: 0.17 Stack size in hand behavior

These are great questions, If you're talking about the new quickbar, when I read back to the article I found this: Clicking the shortcut, will grab the first available stack from the inventory. So to me that means it'll act as normal, click on it you'll get the first available stack in the inventory...

Re: any ideas how to control ammo in turrets

I don't really think that is a good way to go, but to answer the question, and assuming that you also want production to turn back on when the turret needs more magazines: 1) For each turret, split off the main belt and have the inserter pick off a wired belt section (set to read hold) 2) At the sta...

Re: Blueprint: 100 x Solar Power Block [ .16 ]

It's interesting to see so many of these designs without at least a walking path through them, so the plan is to either not walk through your solar farm/grid or carefully space them out when building them?

Re: Iron is too needed and copper is nearly useless

The thought that iron is "too needed" may come from the progression of technology into recipes that include steel. This causes the demand for iron plate to increase five-fold. A similar progression on the copper side is cleverly hidden in the technology progression into electronics. I did ...

Re: How many main bus lines do you generally use?

Generally my main bus consists of iron plate, copper plate, and coal. I also have a return bus that carries science packs back to the lab area. I tried using next-level products (i.e. steel, copper cable, iron gear wheel) but it gets way too complicated to belt weave and it winds up making more sens...

Re: Did no one else notice massive nerf of tank in 0.17?

My use of the tank is to truck out long distances in base, although it's slower it's a lot easier to control and doesn't get stopped by the errant tree branch along the way. If I'm using it for clearing nests before modular armor and combat bots I do use the machine gun. So I can see why people woul...

I don't miss having pink dots all over the map and tons of them taking up space back at the main base. Alien science could have been cooler with the new infinity mechanic... or if you could use those pink eggs to make fuel.

Re: Chest provision

Once your passive provider chest is full of belts that belt production should stop and the requester chest for ingredient belts will be fulfilled. Same goes with the lower-level assembler, etc. Once the requests are fulfilled you will have a cache of belts in their respective passive provider chests...

Re: Do You Feel Full Logistic Behind Yellow Pushes Lasers Early?

I always prioritize mid-game military (which for me is piercing round loaded gun turrets with reasonable damage and fire rate upgrades) over logistics. I didn't go for lasers any sooner than I would in a 0.14.x game.

Having warehousing to enhance factory efficiency may be counter-intuitive to some. There's value in producing a buffer of items to smooth out the production flow, enable assessing production levels, and better schedule and predict the demands of your factory. This promotes better power and resource ...

Re: solar power plant better than nuclear reactor

I use both. Neither is better from a general sense, more like one is more applicable in certain situations over the other, in terms of area, resources, power requirements, etc.
