Re: Friday Facts #182 - Optimizations, always more optimizations
I haven't tried actually *playing* 0.14/64 yet... Not on the upgraded amazing potato at least. I started up an 0.13/64 I had around (which I had downloaded to confirm that Linux, unlike BSD, doesn't support running 64-bits applications on a 32-bits kernel). The game loads and renders, so I confirmed...

Re: Friday Facts #182 - Optimizations, always more optimizations
After a non-trivial amount of effort, I finally managed to upgrade the amazing potato to 64 bits: I am officially ready to run Factorio 0.15. I really appreciate the effort going into optimizing performance, since I will apparently have to run it on a non-accelerated graphics card (as the accelerate...

Re: Friday Facts #177 - Difficulty settings
It also struck me as backwards that killing enemies and destroying their bases would make them stronger... Those who died were weak individuals, survivors were stronger so they will have strong offsprings ... that is how natural selection works. ;) That justifies pollution making enemies stronger, ...

Re: Friday facts #158 - The end of the 32 bit era
One system I am currently running is a Linux with some interesting (read: potatoish) hardware. It's a 32 bit system which will remain 32 bt for the foreseeable future, since it has problems with the latest kernels (the graphics chipset doesn't want to play nice with the available drivers). It has ru...

Re: Friday Facts #177 - Difficulty settings
Any chance the evolution destroy factor could also be made negative in the options? It always struck me as backwards that killing enemies and destroying their bases would make them stronger...

Re: [MOD 0.14] Flame tank
Bug: mining the flame tank will return a tank instead of a flametank. Prototypes/entity/vehicles.lua line 8:
minable = {mining_time = 1, result = "tank"},
should be
minable = {mining_time = 1, result = "psq-flame-tank"},
HAND,

Re: Friday facts #158 - The end of the 32 bit era
The main stated issue with 64 vs 32 bit is that somehow they behave differently in multiplayer, not that the 32 bit version is somehow "more broken"; restricting multiplayer to the same version of the binary would fix that, and if you are playing with friends and only have a 32 bit versio...

Re: Friday facts #158 - The end of the 32 bit era
So, how hard would it be to release a 32-bit "unsupported" version? As in: the underlying code is the same as the 64-bits version, recompiled for 32-bits, but the game is only supported for 64-bits, so if you only have a 32-bit system, and the port doesn't work, well, sorry about that, tr...

Re: Friday facts #158 - The end of the 32 bit era
OK, so, new to the forums, I just registered (and man, how many bot checks do you NEED?). I have several hundred hours in factorio, on both 64 AND 32 bit systems (I'm still terrible, at it, mind, I just played it a lot :P), and all I wanted to say was: I do understand the problems inherent in suppor...
