Re: Meaningful Content Update
Right now the status of early access is doing more harm than good. It’s highly undeserving of the current state of development, considering how bad of a name EA got. Don‘t get me wrong, I‘m all for new content. If only looking at some of the mods made by the devs themself like construction drones or...

Although Vanilla shallow water would be quite a nice addition, creating interesting scenarios.

Re: Friday Facts #345 - Unit group collision mask & Artillery shell particle
But I do know of guns working without casings! Most large caliber naval guns don't /didn't use casings, but worked by stuffing bags of cordite, nitrocellulose or similar behind the grenade. I actually thought that was how the arty turret was designed to work.. [...] That‘s not the case for more mod...

If I‘m looking at research and especially setting up a queue I want peace.
As for opt in, though quite nice, I suspect ist beeing a rather low priority.
For looking the tech tree up, there are good external websites example (although currently outdated)

As of the update itself; the ejected shell graphic is a welcomed nuance. Making negotiations for more building space even more entertaining.

Re: Version 0.18.22
Er, yes. Yay, a "minor patch" broke lots of stuff! Any chance you guys can use SemVer and do at least rudimentary testing that patch-releases don't break mods? This also implies checking a player *really* wants to upgrade to the next minor version (e.g. 0.19). In addition to Kyralessa. Si...

Re: Meaningful Content Update
I don‘t really get this thread. We have an announced release date a few months from now. Little suprising there won‘t be any major content update before that. After that, I agree, it‘s hopefully time for expansions. It feels like we're a few months before release since 0.16 now... True and maybe ex...

Re: Meaningful Content Update
For example look at Rimworld, it's been adding polish while also pushing meaningful content updates at the same time. Plenty of indie developers have been able to balance the two (Risk of Rain 2, Satisfactory, Prison Architect are other examples) . I've been waiting over a year for Factorio to real...

Another interesting achievement might be launching a rocket, while ensuring pollution in no chunk exceeds a specific volume. Call it eco-friendly, environmental activist, nature lover, or something that means similar. There can be multiple levels of achievement. This will require the players to spr...

Re: Friday Facts #343 - Environmental particle effects
(...) Releasing 1.0 with what is basically a placeholder mechanic with tacked on fluid mixing prevention seems lackluster. I'd take the older fluid mechanics allowing fluid mixing over what we currently have. I hope they don’t, fluid mixing was just tedious. Either requiring full focus or else bein...

Re: Control Passenger Trains from Map Mode
This on the other hand would be a improvement in QoL by more conveniently (and quickly) doing passenger transportation.5thHorseman wrote: ↑Mon Apr 06, 2020 12:44 amMaybe if not in a train, creating a temporary station prompts the user to click on a train in map mode so the choice is up to (and required by) the player, not the game.

Re: Friday Facts #341 - Audio, Artillery, Attenuation
Real world heat management is better with shelled projectiles, that's true, but heat management isn't important for a not overtly realistic setup. True, true leaving the matter largely to artistic choice. Of which, IMHO, the updated artillery turret sound, is pretty nice. As for shelled artillery, ...

Re: Control Passenger Trains from Map Mode
As you can show the train on map via the train GUI, the ability to pick a temporary station right there (or via the map in the GUI) seems reasonable.
For the „pick any train“ suggestion. I‘m not sure, if the effort of implementation is worth it.

Re: Is it time to give the pistol the steel axe treatment
Unlike the pickaxe (removal of with was unnecessary IMO, but this is off topic) the pistol dosen’t were out, so the need of production and more important replenishment is rather low. Given that you spawn with one equipped, I don’t see why a pistol recipe should bother anyone and therefore there isn’...

Re: Friday Facts #341 - Audio, Artillery, Attenuation
Large artillery pieces usually (exclusively?) use bag charges. Typically yes, but this is the benefit of a not overtly realistic setup. A hypothetical more potent chemical propellant could be used, even for lager caliber pieces. Therefore shelled projectiles could enable a better heat management us...

Re: Friday Facts #341 - Audio, Artillery, Attenuation
The introduction of the artillery shell ejection sound is the perfect excuse for making the artillery actually produce an empty shell for each round fired. Second that, especially beside the remarkable new fiering sound the ejected shell sound is quite noteworthy. And good to hear back from sound d...

Re: Fast-replace arithmetic and decider combinators
Fast replace probably isn't the best idea, but what about integration into the upgrade planner? This would effectively circumvent messing up builds by mere chance and since rail signals are interchangeable with chain singnals why not combinators (excluding the constant combinator of course). The onl...
