Re: 24k Alien Artifacts and a creepy observation
All I see in the artefact is a pixel-mish-mash that could easily resemble a space invader from the Atari 2600 game. Probably I just lack imagination.

Re: using oil as power
The question that comes to my mind is... How efficient is it? I mean liquids other than water have a higher base temperature, so it wouldn't actually take as much fuel to heat them to 100°C. But in the long run, without doing the math, I think it is still better to turn any excess heavy/light oil or...

Re: Smart Furnace whitout robots
Since I'm pretty much the one who invented and popularized this idea I'm able to say that the setup from razztorback just sucks. It will eventually clog once one of the output belts is full of plates. No matter what you do, if you are using bots ore belts... you need buffer chests and set the Smart ...

Man, that's one ugly resolution as well as quality for an image. I can't read anything of the production screen, just take wild guesses of what it might say.Peteza34 wrote:Here you go:

Re: Endgame concerns[POLL]
I didn't vote yet, since I'm giving the "Endgame" proposal in its current state the benefit of doubt and I'll surely try it before I might come up with any solid complaints or suggestions. But I have to admit that I'm with Marconos on his point of an expandable space platform. But then aga...

He uses them to keep the Burner Inserters on the output side filled with fuel. It's working but it looks really awkward.mike_smit wrote:What's up with the snaking coal line?
I question myself what's up with all the guys trying to do everything without electric power all of a sudden.

Sorry to say, but who are you to judge that there's no middleground between advanced setups or bad designs, while the later being a subjective feeling of yours in the first place?MF- wrote:You can't call a feature basic if the only uses of it are advanced OR fixing design errors.

Re: gun vs laser turret balance: play around with range
@MeduSalem: You describe the problem quite well, but unsure if it is really a problem and if, the solution you propose is just one option of many. And you can be sure, that it will be fixed somehow. But I think/guess not in the next 3 months, cause it is not really a problem yet. :) Probably my pro...

Re: gun vs laser turret balance: play around with range
I also think it is obvious that the defense that needs a more complex setup (gun turrets) should have appropriate advantages over the defense that is very simple (lasers). The energy consumption of laser turrets is nothing compared to the resources and infrastructure needed to make ammo and move it...

Re: Modular Extensible PnP Factory
Oh well I'm using something similar on some of my maps... But with some differences: My racks have a standardized height of 21 instead of 13. This is because I'm strictly building stuff aligned with the roboport grid. This way I can fit 2 racks in between two roboports placed at maximum distance fro...

Re: Splitting off one side of a belt
I wish there was an actual, proper way to do this. Using an underground belt that way just feels... wrong to me. Same thought here. If something requires a tremendous and ugly workaround that's in no relation to what one is trying to achieve then it's a clear indication of a lacking basic feature. ...

Re: Large Bridge Cranes
This is exactly the point why I don't get really warm with this idea: 1. Where is the logic? I mean it hasn't to be realistic, but logical. Currently it has its own logic, which is quite simple: if it's not a placed entity it's an item, which you can take with you. Now this suggestion says we have ...

Re: Large Bridge Cranes
I actually like the idea of having some sort of Bridge Cranes to do the heavy work a lot. There should have been a size/weight system a long time ago of stuff that just can't be picked up by the player and also not transported by any traditional means of belts/inserters/robots just because of how bu...

Re: Ropeway conveyor above the factory...
Well what are the details? Should ropeways be only straight? Should ropeways have a limited length? If so how long? Should pole placement be automatic? How big should stations be? When powering a ropeway do you need electricity at one station or both? What can be carried in ropeways? Anything? Just...

Re: The most useless thing in game.
Actually I'm a strong supporter of Steam Power, because I just hate endless fields of Solar Panels & Accumulators. So my complete power-production basically depends on Solid Fuel to increase efficiency and because it's an infinite resource. Coal is my failsafe-backup if my Oil Industry can't kee...

Re: The most useless thing in game.
I don't know, to me it makes sense. There are many instances in real life where two or more underground tunnels are interlaced(like underground trains). :P Yeah I know interlacing tunnels are quite common practice in industry as well as construction engineering (which I studied and I've been workin...

Re: The most useless thing in game.
http://i.imgur.com/vq8XJO6.jpg Oh well then. The interlacing stuff. There's no way to argue to beat that, true. I'll admit I can't say anything rational against doing it that way. But I'm actually no friend of the interlacing underground belts. I'd never use that stuff because somehow it's against ...

Re: The most useless thing in game.
So to make electric furnaces more efficient than steel furnaces, you have to spent many resources into researching modules/beacons, and spend more to build it. Whereas steel furnaces have one cost only. And for people that don't want to waste time and resources to do that, steel furnaces work just ...
