Re: Is fuel too strong

you can power a battery farm+lasers with a secondary power grid (from solars/steams to batteries) of course this requires overlapping your solar farms with two substations for both grids.

Re: 0.10.0 crashes more?

you can avoid the power pole crashes by dragging them well within the range within which you can build them while standing still. Dragging them at the edge of your construction area now causes crashes.

Re: Accumulators in MJ

If I understand correctly then if we count that a solar panel produces 42kW on average and if we assume for the sake of simplicity that a night is 30% of the day (as 10% is actual night +20%/2 from dawn and +20%/2 from dusk) then we need about 180 seconds of electricity from accumulators then we nee...

Re: Compact Science Pack 2 Factory

Isnt this a more compact and realistic setup? It produces equal amounts of both beaker types with a very minimal amounts of assemblers and reasonably little space. SP2 assemblers (including subassemblies) almost must work together with others. The setup is fed by 12 furnaces + 6 electric miners. (th...

I believe nuclear energy is slightly less polluting than coal / oil fired plants. I hope the nuclear plant will be a big building if it makes it in.

Re: [0.10.0] Crash to desktop while auto placing power poles

IVe had this happen a few times while dragging poles at just the edge of my placement range. This bug can be reproduced by dragging poles behind you so far away that pole blueprint oscillates between being whited out and being blue while dragging. This crashes me every time.

you can delete items by putting them in a chest and shooting the chest.
btw. I would also like a trashing machine of some sort.

Re: Basic resource management

At the start I sometimes manual craft the belts and inserters and put them into a few AM1s to turn into green packs. The biggest time costing component are the green packs themselves, the inserters can be produced quite fast manually.

Re: load 1 unit of something into structure

doesnt it just inject some new energy to the energy budget when it burns the last unit of old fuel, at which point it has an empty slot to load new fuel into? I just let my old fuel needy structures burn through the coal.

load 1 unit of something into structure

As of right now, you have to left click the burner inserter and insert 1 unit of fuel in order to jump start it before it can begin to gather its own fuel, this is not an efficient method of early game manual labor. Most manual furnace/dril fueling techniques do not require you to open the interface...

2^x vs y*10^x

The developers have recently made the controversial decision of limiting number of items in a single stack to multiples of 10 and 100. I personally am emotionally attached and inclined to powers of 2. As it is, the game already integrates 2^5 for the number of tiles in a row (or a column) within a s...

Stacks are now 10 based, to match the circuit/requester settings, the amount might change, they were mostly changed to the nearest suitable value. Please, no. Return to the powers of two model. You're like that evil NASA executive who demanded that the Engineers use imperial instead of metric. Chan...

Re: A bunch of newbie questions

in my opinion Arumba's youtube letsplay videos are very educational. I say play on freeplay with default settings. The map is infinite and there are no limits to what you can do and you aren't forced to do anything except focus on teching up. In the campaign you have to go through a ton of hoops. Th...

Re: Pirating as a 'demo'. Your opinions?

I considered pirating for a bit but I saw there was a demo and it showed me enough to make me want to buy the game. Why pirate when the demo is a good enough try out? If you're not going to pay then don't pirate it either imo.

Re: So i have an issue with the alien things

Get a shotgun and sub-machine gun. Use the sub-machine gun to kill the initial wave of small biters with the machine gun and the shotgun to kill the spawners while keeping new biters in its line of fire.
